The Nintendo Indie World Showcase 23 went live today, showcasing some cool-looking indie games coming to Nintendo Switch soon, in some cases today! The live stream lasted approximately 22 minutes and featured over 20 independent games that will be available for the Nintendo Switch consoles.
The showcase revealed the release dates and trailers for some games while shadow-dropping others. Although there were no shocking announcements at the April 19 showcase, it did include some intriguing titles, such as Crypt of the Necrodancer and Blasphemous. Have you missed the live stream? Not to worry, we got you covered. This article will go over all of the announcements and details revealed at the Nintendo Indie World Showcase.
Mineko’s Night Market
The Indie World Showcase 23 kicked off with the announcement of Mineko’s Night Market. The game has been in development for around eight years. The long delay justifies the title being placed up front in the showcase.
The game follows a horde of cats with perfectly synchronized beautiful watercolor graphics in the theme of Japanese mythology. Players will take on the role of Mineko, a cat, and explore a peculiar gaming world. You can explore the neighborhood, make various crafts, attend local night markets, and befriend townsfolk.
It is somewhat similar to Fantasy Life, so if you’re a fan of Fantasy Life or games like it, Mineko’s Night Market is definitely worth a shot. The showcase revealed that the game is scheduled for September 26 launch on Nintendo Switch.
My Time at Sandrock
My Time at Sandrock was the next game in line, and it did receive an extended showing at the Indie World Showcase. At first, the game developers Pathea Games discussed a bit about the inspiration behind the project, and afterward, they narrowed down the official release window for the game.
My Time at Sandbox is the sequel to My Time at Portia and is currently in Early Access on Steam. The game will have players explore ancient ruins in search of relics and face off against monsters in melee combat. Additionally, players can build up a workshop and assemble machines to customize their homes. It looks quite exciting on paper, and according to the announcement, the full version of the game will launch in the Summer of 2023.
PlateUp!
The next exciting game announced was Plateup! It is similar to that of Overcook but with roguelike mechanics that team up four chefs through local or online multiplayer. It will allow players to build the restaurant of their dreams and then decorate and automate it.
The end goal of the game is to run the restaurant for 15 days straight while serving increasingly fickle customers. The title will be released later this year, in October 2023.
Quilts and Cats of Calico
Lots of cats around! Quilts and Cats of Calico is a video game adaptation of the board game Calico and features quilty cats that are fully animated and customizable. Furthermore, it features ranked matches, weekly challenges, and, most notably, local and online multiplayer. It will be released in the fall of 2023.
Rift of the NecroDancer
Rift of the NecroDancer is a rhythm game with lane-based combat, full of deadly monsters and brutal boss fights. The title will have its own unique storyline and cast of characters. It is a spin-off of Crypt of the NecroDancer that received a new trailer today at the Indie World Showcase. The game is due to launch later this year.
Animal Well

Crime O’Clock
Crime O’Clock, as the name implies, is a crime-solving game that extends beyond the confines of both space and time. You will have to solve cases in the game, be it in the Lost Era or the cybernetic future. You will need to solve existing cases to unlock new ones. Furthermore, your actions in the past will influence the future, so you’ll have to proceed with caution on each step. Crime O’Clock is set to release on June 20, 2023.
Shadows Over Loathing
Shadows Over Loathing is a 1920s-themed game filled with deadly monsters and mysteries. It is the sequel to West of Loathing and shares the same black-and-white stick figure art. The best part about the sequel is that it will retain the iconic sense of humor despite the time shift in the game. The Shadows Over Loathing is set to release for Nintendo today. However, the physical release will begin later in 2023.
Teslagrad 2 and Teslagrad Remastered
Next up was Teslagrad. You heard it right; the Teslagrad series isn’t over. The game developers have announced Teslagrad 2, a sequel to the iconic Teslagrad, along with a Teslagrad Remastered. Rain Games has announced that both games are now available on the e-shop by Nintendo. The Teslagrad Power Pack Edition includes both games out of the box and is now available.
Blasphemous 2
Blasphemous 2 was by far the most exciting reveal of the live stream. The game’s first official trailer was released today. The trailer features the game’s iconic pixel-based art and the return of The Penitent One. It looks fantastic, whether it’s the newly added progression system, custom builds, newly added weapons, or the expanded moveset. Blasphemous 2 is set to launch this summer.
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals
