Hideo Kojima, most commonly known as the creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise and Death Stranding, has teased one of his upcoming projects by describing the game as “almost a new medium.” While we don’t know the exact details of the game, we do know that Kojima plans for it to be a huge deal.
In a recent interview, Kojima talked a bit about one of his upcoming titles, explaining that it’s something he’s wanted to do for years. Still, he was limited by the technology available to him.
It’s almost like a new medium. If this succeeds, it will turn things around–not just in the game industry, but in the movie industry as well.

Kojima didn’t elaborate on precisely what that means, but he did say that it’s usually the second or third person who is likely to succeed commercially with new ideas. Still, he’s going to try his best to succeed. He stated that he wants to be the first and keep being the first.
Kojima appeared at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase in June to reveal that he had teamed up with Xbox Game Studios to create a game that he had wanted to make for some time but had previously been unable to due to technological limitations. Kojima is talking about the game likely “Overdose,” which is one of two games currently believed to be in development at Kojima Productions. The other one is considered to be Death Stranding 2.
Earlier this month, Kojima teased one of his upcoming projects, revealing that it would star actress Elle Fanning. However, whether this is related to the rumored Death Stranding 2 or the second, unannounced project that Kojima was talking about is unclear. We will probably get more news about the game during The Game Awards, as host Geoff Keighly and Kojima are on pretty good terms.
