Since its release on PC in November of 2021, Sixtar Gate has proven to be an immensely popular rhythm game. So much so that its developers, Lyrebird Studios and Starlike, have confirmed that they’ll be porting the game to the Nintendo Switch.
Sixtar Gate: STARTRAIL markets itself as a different rhythm game. The game has a humble beginning, like other indie titles like Hyper Gunsport. The game promises to keep improving as time goes on, evidenced by the fact that it launched on PC in the Early Access state.
While the game itself is a rhythm game, it does so against a backdrop of space exploration. The game follows players as they explore the vast Sixtar system aboard the Ausflug spaceship with their companion, Shii, the ship’s captain. Currently, this game also plans to add an Adventure mode that will allow players to explore the story of Sixtar Gate.
The game features artists that many rhythm fans will recognize. These include Life PIANO, Brainpower, and CO5M1C R4ILR0AD. The game also features original songs by artists such as Sound Souler, KARUT, and Yomoha, which can only be heard in the game. The developer plans to introduce new songs from popular franchises such as VOCALOID and Touhou Project. The main goal of the developer is to add songs that players can not easily find in other rhythm games.
As for the gameplay, the gates will open and close with the flow of the song, changing the number of directions the player should focus on. This gameplay is undoubtedly unique, and the implementation of this gate system means that the players don’t lose their guard for a moment.
If you aren’t that good at rhythm games or want to play your favorite songs, the game has also got you covered. In the Unity Quest coop mode, all players must work together to accomplish the same goal. By doing this, players can unlock various rewards, such as new tracks and items for customization.
Sixtar Gate: Startrailer launches for Nintendo Switch on 16th March 2023.
