Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader, is considered one of the most challenging optional bosses due to its fast movement and deadly attacks. She and the other Black Knife Assassins stole the fragment of Destined Death from Maliketh and used it on their daggers to assassinate Godwyn the Golden. As they were escaping Leyndell, Tiche died protecting Alecto’s daughter, and Alecto got imprisoned in Ringleader’s Evergoal. This incident ultimately caused the shattering of the Elden Ring and the beginning of the great war in the Lands Between.
Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader Location
She can be found at Ringleader’s Evergaol, located Southwest of Liurnia of the Lakes region. The closest Site of Grace to this evergaol is Moonlight Altar which can only be accessed by progressing in Ranni’s Questline. Follow along the questline and defeat Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, to get to the Moonlight Altar. Once on top of the Mountain, head toward the northwest to reach the Ringleader’s Evergoal.

Alecto’s weakness is only Frost, so you will have to use a weapon that inflicts Frost Damage or need to use Spells and Incantations of Frost to deal more damage to her.
Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader Battle Tips & Tricks
- The Recommended Level to Beat Alecto is 60+, while recommended Weapon Level is +6 (Somber) and +17 (Standard).
- Multiplayer and Spirit Summoning is not allowed in this fight.
- The best weapon against Alecto is Icerind Hatchet, as its passive hits inflict Frost Damage. As the boss is weaker against Frost, it will quickly break her poise.
- Use the Glintblade Phalanx or Carian Phalanx spells to break her poise.
- The most efficient spell against this boss is Zamor Ice Storm, used by the Ancient Hero of Zamor. If you have unlocked this spell, use it in the fight to deal immense damage to her.
Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader Attacks and Counters
Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader, has the same move set as the other Black Knife Assassins, but she also has imbued Helmsplitter attack, which makes her the strongest among all of them.
Quick Slash
She slashes her dagger in different directions and moves around you. Parry this attack after seeing her dagger raised above her shoulder and, after that, land a critical hit on her. You can also block this attack with your shield or choose to roll out of her range.
Lunging Stab
She will stab her dagger in a straight direction while standing as well as crouching. Parry this attack when you see her stabbing his dagger in a straight direction. Interrupting her by blocking will also be helpful and allow you to land several hits. You can also roll out of her range to evade it.
Feint Attack
She leaps in the forward direction with a fake counterclockwise slash and then follows up with an actual clockwise slash. Parry this attack after the fake slash. You can also block this attack with a shield or choose to roll out of her range.
Spinning Retreat
She will reposition herself to the left side after that previous clockwise slash. Reposition yourself by rolling to your left side and wait for her next move or punish her while she is repositioning.
Blade-Dragging Sweep
She strikes her dagger into the ground and pivots around it. Punish her by backstabbing her when she lands the dagger on the ground. This attack can be parried at the end to strike her with a critical hit.
Helmsplitter
She will jump in the air before she stabs her dagger into the ground. Roll out of her way and then go to the back of her to backstab her. Alternatively, you can land a Heavy Attack or a few regular attacks.
Lunging Grab
She will lunge in the forward direction to grab you and then stab you with the dagger. Roll toward her to dodge this attack and land a couple of hits after dodging it. Try not to get grabbed by her, as it can quickly finish you.
Decoy Lunge
She will perform a back-handed slash from the ground and create sparkles. It can be parried right after she lunges her dagger into the ground. It is not easy to time, so it is best to maintain your distance.
Slashing Blade of Death
She charges her dagger with Red Flame and then throws a horizontal arc of projectile at your position, which deals significant damage. It will also continuously deplete your health for some time. Roll toward the projectile or in the left or right direction to dodge the projectile. You can also Parry this attack with Carian Retalian Ash of War equipped on your shield.
Jumping Blade of Death
She will charge her dagger with Red Flame, jump in the air, and then throw a series of horizontal arcs of projectiles at your position. Getting hit by any of the projectiles will deal you a lot of damage along with continuous depletion of your health for some time. To avoid this, run in a direction to dodge all of the projectiles.
Imbued Helmsplitter
She will charge her dagger with Red Flame and then jump in the air and stabs the dagger into the ground to create an explosion of swirling blades around her. Getting hit by any of the swirling blades will cause significant damage, and you will take continuous damage over time. Maintain a great distance from her to dodge this attack. When you see her charging her blade, run backward before she lunges ahead and stabs her dagger into the ground.
How to Defeat Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader Easily
Alecto’s skillset allows her to swirl around you while attacking, and keeping track of her is challenging. However, if you choose to use the Weapons that inflict Frost damage will be able to break her poise more quickly and stun-lock her during her attacks. The best strategy is to land a couple of hits at the start of the fight when entering Evergoal and then try to parry her to strike her with a critical hit. Try to land a couple of hits while she is swirling around you to interrupt her attacks, and whenever she stabs a dagger in the ground, go behind her to backstab her for great damage.
Melee Users
Icerind Hatchet can break her poise and interrupt her between her attacks easily. To parry and block, equip the Buckler, as it will increase the chances of Parrying her attacks. As the fight starts, land a couple of hits on her or use the Weapon Skill several times to damage her tremendously. After that, play slow and look for the opening to either parry her and land a critical hit or backstab her. Try to use the Weapon Skill sparingly, as she can quickly move around, so only use the skill when she is recovering.
You can also use the Glintblade Phalanx Ash of War on your weapon, obtained by defeating Godrick the Grafted. You must use it four times to break her poise and stagger her to land a critical hit. Nevertheless, you must be careful as she can move swiftly and dodge anything you throw at her easily.
Magic and Ranged Users
The Magic Users will be required to have a high number of Flasks of Cerulean Tears because you will have to use spells again and again on her to defeat her eventually. You need to use the spells Glintblade Phalanx, Carian Phalanx, and Carian Greatsword. You can stagger her quickly with Glintblade Phalanx and Carian Phalanx but cast the spells at close range. It will break her poise more quickly, and you will be able to get a critical hit on her. However, you will have to be careful while she performs her Death Imbued Attacks, and you do not want to get caught while she is casting them.
The Carian Greatsword will allow you to hit her from a distance. You need to cast this spell while she moves around you to catch her in a slashing attack. It will interrupt her, and if you cast Carian Phalanx right after hitting her with a slashing attack, it will stagger her, and you will get to hit her with a critical hit. Make sure you have enough stamina and FP before casting spells, and if you are low on FP, go to a safe distance from her and then use Flask of Cerulean Tears to get back into the fight.
For the Ranged Users, the best weapons you can use are a Sword of Night and Flame or any Ranged Melee Weapon. Regarding ranged melee, you can use Halberd’s light attack to poke and interrupt her throughout the fight. As she has a low Poise, she will quickly be interrupted by it. You only have to get away from her when regenerating your stamina. If you use the Sword, you must consecutively use both Weapon Skills to stagger her immediately. However, both skills cost a certain amount of FP, so you will have to keep an eye on your mana. You must hit her with the Comet Skill and then use the Flame Burst to break her poise, staggering her. After that, you can get a critical hit on her as well. However, if you are far from her, avoid the critical hit, as she can get up very quickly and catch you off-guard.
