The Wind Temple has to be conquered as part of the ‘Tulin of Rito Village‘ quest in the game. In the quest, after you bring Tulin its bow back from Aerocuda, the game will prompt you to climb the Rising Island Chain. This is to get to the origin of these blizzards as they are causing havoc in the ‘Hebra Region.’
You will use Tulin’s Gust ability and your ascending ability to climb platforms, jumping onto ships with the help of trampolines. Finally, after scaling through these climbs, you’ll reach the last platform, and from there you will see another ship which will take you to the eye of the storm, where you’ll reach the ‘Wind Temple.’
NOTE: You’ll need cold resistance potions or armor to survive the extreme cold in this quest. So before you start scaling towards the ‘Wind Temple,’ make sure you have cold resistance.
This quest requires you to open a giant hatch on the ship. The hatch opens up with the help of five giant gears on the ship, connected with wind turbines located at different parts of the ship. Tulin’s Gust ability will help you to rotate these turbines, which in turn will rotate the gears and the hatch will be opened. So, let’s get started on solving these puzzles. Right below is a location guide for all the locks.
First Lock
The first lock puzzle is just on the north side of the big hatch on the same level. When you arrive here, you’ll have two rooms with blocked doors on either side. The room which has the control lever attached to it has a chest in it, you can acquire that chest if you like too. The other room is the one with the ‘Wind Turbine‘ has a broken control lever.
Just use a nearby icicle and attach it to the broken lever with the help of your Ultra Hand ability. Once attached, you will now be able to turn the lever using Ultra Hand again, and the blocked door will open.
Inside the room, just stand in front of the turbine so that Tulin is behind you. Now ask Tulin to use its Gust ability, and the turbine will start working, causing the gear to turn.
Second Lock
For the Second Lock, we need to glide atop the highest part of the ship. Use the wind current in the middle of the ship to glide up, and once you are in the air, glide towards the north side of the ship. You will see two flat doors.
Use the “Ultra Hand” ability to lift open the two big doors.
As you open the door, you’ll have to glide your way down towards the turbine. There are lasers in the room; you need to glide through these without coming in contact with any. Adjust your speed and movement by opening and closing your glider accordingly.
The turbine is located in a smaller room inside just above the fan, on the northern side. Use Tulin’s Gust Ability to turn this turbine. You can collect a chest if you like; it’s located in the room just in front on the opposite side.
Third Lock
For the Third Lock, we are going to take the wind current in the middle of the ship once again. Now that you are high up, glide towards the east side of the ship.
Start making your way to the bottom part of this side of the ship, watching out for a canon as it will shoot you if you are in its line of sight. You are going to see an opening covered by icicles; use a flower bomb or any other explosive to clear the obstruction and glide inside.
Inside on the right side, there will be you’ll see a moving gear. Use your Recall Ability to reverse its movement and stand on it. It’ll take you to the other side.
On the other side, you’ll find two stationary gears. Shoot an icicle hanging off the ceiling and use the Ultrahand to place the icicle in between the gears so that the stationary gears start moving once they come in contact with the moving ones. After this, the door on the right will open.
Use to start the turbine.
Fourth Lock
There is an entrance just below the west side of the ship; jump off this ledge and glide into the entrance below.
Inside, there will be an icy gap on the right side; you need to glide to the other end with the help of Tulin’s Gust Ability.
On the other side, there will be a construct; you can fight it or just leave him as it is. Then you need to ascend through the broken ceiling.
Once atop, you’ll see a lever hanging in front of a closed door; this lever acts as the turning mechanism for the door. Near the pole, there will be slabs of concrete. Use Ultra hand and attach those slabs to the lever just as shown in the image.
When you attach those slabs like this, it will act as a windmill; use Tulin’s Gust Ability to rotate the mechanism, and the door will be opened. Climb the ladders in the room to the next turbine, kill the construct in the room, and use Tulin’s Ability to start the turbine.
Fifth Lock
For the fifth turbine, you need to go to the Icy gap again, which is just below the ledge west side of the ship.
Once you are here, just glide down into the gap, and you’ll see another floor down there, glide there and there will be the last turbine lock, kill the construct, and use Tulin’s Gust Ability for the last time.
Once all of the turbines are up and running, go to the pedestal on the ship’s main deck and interact with it, once you interact there will be a cutscene, and the “Colgera” boss fight will start.
How to beat Colgera?
Colgera has ice plates on its body, and underneath those ice plates are its weak points. You need to break those ice plates; it’s going to take you three arrows to destroy a single ice plate, so I recommend you fuse a Fire Bomb or Fruit Bomb to make the arrow more effective. The time slows down as you aim, so it should be easy to take a shot.
Once the ice plates get destroyed, Colgera’s weak points will become visible. You will be fighting in the air for the whole time, so make sure that you have a good amount of arrows. You will need Cold Resistance Potions too, so you can endure the cold while the fight lasts.
Another move Colgera will pull off is that it will mid-fight fly into its portal and return from random directions. You need to dodge Colgera as it flies out of the portal as you will take damage if you come in contact with it.
Once you’ve destroyed the plates for the first time, Colgera will use its portal to escape and return momentarily with all the ice plates intact.
This time Colgera will use its other move; it will spawn several tornadoes. Just stay away from the tornadoes, and if there is a chance that you might come in contact with a tornado, simply use your glider and glide away from them.
Try making your way around these tornadoes and destroy the ice plates again. Once destroyed again, Colgera will go down defeated.”
