Insomniac Games, in collaboration with Nixxes Software, is bringing the action-adventure platformer game Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart onto PC, ending its exclusivity to PlayStation. The PC port of Rift Apart was announced back in 2023, and now the developers have confirmed on Twitter that the game is Steam Deck verified.
There are certain criteria that must be met in order to receive Valve’s Verified seal of approval; since Rift Apart is now Steam verified, it means that those criteria have been met. The verified Steam Deck page enlists that a game must have full controller support with appropriate on-screen input icons and an automatic on-screen keyboard when needed, support the standard Steam Deck resolution (1280×800 or 1280×720) with good default settings and legible text, run without any compatibility warnings, and be fully supported by Proton.
The PC port of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is no small feat, given that the game’s detailed graphics and complicated in-game environments were only made possible by the ultra-fast Solid-State Drive on PlayStation 5. In order to preserve the stunning visuals and novel dimension-hopping gameplay mechanics of Rift Apart, the PC port will use DirectStorage 1.2 with GPU decompression.
The PC version will support ultra-wide displays, unlocked frame rates, ray-traced reflections and shadows, and performance-boosting upscaling via NVIDIA DLSS3, AMD FSR 2, and Intel XeSS. It will also support NVIDIA Reflex and NVIDIA DLAA for improved image quality.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is set to launch on July 26, 2023, and will be available on PC via Steam and Epic Game Store. The official launch trailer provides a glimpse into the game.
