Battle
Sephiroth starts the battle with a lethal sword slash combo. You have to activate the reaction command to completely deflect the attack quickly, then attack him with your most powerful combos. He will use this move throughout the whole battle, which will darken your surroundings before he executes it. Don’t forget to watch out for that.
It’s crucial to focus on him while staying at a distance, preferably at the other end of the battlefield. This allows you to have enough time to attack based on his actions. If he teleports; you have to quickly dash away, If the screen darkens; activate the reaction command. If you get thrown into the air due to his continuous slashes; wait until he reappears in front of you, then keep pressing Square to utilize the Retaliating Slashes ability. This is more effective when your MP is charging so that you can use Berserk Charge to deal more damage.
When Sephiroth’s health is down by 4 bars, he starts having 3 new attacks.
- Darkness Orb
These orbs are projectiles with homing abilities. Dodge them by jumping or dashing away as they move towards you.
- The Flame Wall
For the Flame Wall, Keep rushing in the direction away from the flames as they will try to pull you towards them. When the flame disappears, you have a split-second to hit the Sephiroth, provided he doesn’t teleport.
- The Heartless Angel
Heartless Angel- works the same as it was in the first game. However this time, Sephiroth will be hovering in the air, making it more challenging to interrupt the move by hitting him. To get to him, attack when you jump high or glide toward him. If you do get hit, just keep pressing the reaction button and worry about your health later. Then, attack him with your strongest combos and maybe use a healing item while attacking.
When Sephiroth begins glowing because he’s losing more health. His attacks will get stronger, and his slashes will be quicker than usual. As always, you have to dodge by quickly dashing away. The mentor attack that he will use at this stage is not that strong, but try not to get hit, so dash around in circles to avoid it.
Outcome
After defeating the Sephiroth, return to the marketplace and talk to Cloud. Select the second option. Then, go back to the Dark Depths and speak to Sephiroth. Watch the cut scene. After this, Tifa will give you the Fenrir.
