Recently, Guerrilla Games shared a new tweet revealing that the studio is looking to hire new developers. The department they were most interested in new hires was the multiplayer department, as the studio plans to create a new title set in the Horizon universe. The descriptions for some of the available positions confirm that the studio is developing a new Horizon game.
A few months ago, there were rumors about the development of a brand new Horizon multiplayer experience by Guerrilla Games, and now the studio indirectly confirms this speculation with the latest job listings. The studio has 17 vacant positions for which they’re willing to hire new talent, and if you take a quick look at some job postings, you can see a new multiplayer project set in the Horizon universe. An ad to hire a senior combat designer revealed that the game will have a co-op mode.
The job description says the party is looking for a lead designer to bring the larger Horizon universe to a broader audience. As a successful candidate, people will work closely with combat designers, animators, game programmers, and multidisciplinary teams to create a variety of enemies focused on engaging players with exciting combat and characterizing co-op elements.
Sony has announced that the company plans to implement up to 10 multiplayer live service titles by 2026, such as the game being developed by PlayStation London Studio. This Horizon multiplayer project may be one of them, although whether or not this multiplayer project will be a free-to-play experience is unknown.
That’s not the only Horizon project in development, as we know that Sony has partnered with Guild Wars publisher NCsoft to create what they called a Horizon MMO, but there are no other details about the game. Guerrilla was rumored to be working on a co-op mode for Horizon Zero Dawn, but it got cut, so maybe this new co-op game will be a spiritual successor to the mode.
