Today, PlayStation’s London Studio announced their next game. As stated before, the game will be set in London, be online and co-op, and feature combat. This is an unheard move for the company, as previous projects by the company were more gimmicky, such as some of them utilizing the PSVR headset.

Stuart Whyte, the co-studio head, stated the following:

With this project, we really wanted to explore some new avenues and set ourselves some new challenges. We definitely wanted to try something a little bit different, and I think this new project really channels our ‘brave’ value and allows us to push ourselves on the ‘curious’ front, too. It’s an exciting future, it really is.

It was also revealed that the unnamed project will be built utilizing the Soho Engine and will be a PS5 exclusive. PlayStation London Studio has big plans for the title, as Tara Saunders, the other co-studio head, stated that this will be their most ambitious game to date. She also went into more detail about the studio’s plans, saying that the game’s overarching theme is to bring fantasy and real-world elements together. This is why London was chosen as the game’s world, as this is the most familiar location to the development team.

The studio plans for the title to take full advantage of PS5’s hardware, but it was also revealed that the studio would be using the same tech they used for one of their older titles, Blood and Truth, which was a VR title for the PS4. However, the upcoming title doesn’t seem to be a VR game; Saunders explained that the technology is being reused as VR games have more efficient engines.

We’ve already received news that Sony plans to release ten live service titles by 2026, and this project seems to be one of them. While we don’t have a definitive release date, we can assume the game will be out before that time.
