In Diablo 4, the formidable companions known as golems are exclusively available to the Necromancer class. While each class boasts its unique advantages, the Necromancer stands out by having the ability to summon the undead, effectively enlisting their eerie forces to engage in battle on their behalf.

While you don’t have to spend any unique essences to summon them, there are some requirements you need to fulfill.

How Do You Unlock the Ability to Summon a Golem?

Like every aspect of the game, there are a few things you need to do before you can unlock a feature. For summoning golems, the requirements are:

  • Reach level 25
  • Complete the “Necromancer: Call of the Underworld” quest.

Reaching the required level will take some time, but once you do, you will unlock the quest that will appear on your map.

Collect Unbroken Bones

To get through this quest, pray at the Shrine of Rothma, where an NPC named Maltorius will ask you to collect 12 Unbroken Bones for them. These can be gained by killing the skeleton enemies near Sarkova Pass and the Western Ways area.

find the Vile Artifact in the Bitter Cave

Once you have collected the unbroken bones, visit Maltorius to deliver them. Upon delivery, he will assign you the following objective: to retrieve the Vile Artifact. It is found in the Bitter Cave near Sallow Riverbanks, southwest of the Shrine of Rothma.

Once you enter the Bitter Cave, you will find the artifact “Jar of Souls” that you need to fill by killing the enemies that spawn in the area and then walking on their souls. Once filled with souls, Maltorius will appear automatically to grant you the skill to build golems in return for his wishes.

How to Summon Golems?

Now that you have unlocked this ability open the “Book of the Dead” to select the type of golem you want to spawn (each type of golem unlocks on a specific level). Next, visit the skills assignment tab and find the ability to summon a golem at the bottom. place it on the hot bar, and the golem will appear next to your character. You can change the type of golem from the “Book of the Dead” later.

The golem will remain by your character until the skill is equipped on your hot bar. In any case, if the golem dies, it will reappear after 20 seconds. This feature is handy, especially if your hands are busy taking on the enemies surrounding you.

What Are the Types of Golem You Can Summon?

You can choose three golem types from the “Book of the Dead.” Each golem type has unique skills. You can choose one of the two upgrades available for each golem or the option to sacrifice them for special perks.

Bone Golem

Unlocking on level 25, a bone golem taunts the surrounding enemies to attack him. This allows you to heal yourself or kill the enemies while they are busy with the golem. Its upgrades are described as follows:

  • Upgrade 1: After every 20% damage the golem takes, it sheds a corpse.
  • Upgrade 2: The maximum life of the golem is increased by 10%, and the number of thorns they inherit is boosted from 30% to 50%.
  • Sacrifice: At the cost of the ability to summon golem, you can sacrifice the bone golem to increase the speed of your character by 10%.

Blood Golem

When you reach level 28, you will unlock a blood golem that drains the health of the surrounding enemies to heal itself. Its ability can be activated after every 10 seconds, which increases its chance of standing its ground in combat. Its upgrades are described below:

  • Upgrade 1: The blood golem will take 15% of your damage taken to itself.
  • Upgrade 2: While the golem is healthy, it gains 25% damage reduction and 50% increased damage.
  • Sacrifice: You can get an extra 10% of your maximum life for the cost of losing the ability to summon a golem.

Iron Golem

Iron Golem unlocks at level 32 and can stun the enemies with a slam attack. Its ability can be accessed every 10 seconds, giving you many opportunities to deal free damage to the enemies. Its offense-oriented companionship helps the player fight with much ease. Its upgrades are as follows:

  • Upgrade 1: Every fifth iron golem slam attack will cause a shockwave that will deal 292 – 357 (30%) damage to the primary enemies and those behind them.
  • Upgrade 2: The slam attack by the iron golem will leave the enemies vulnerable for 3 seconds.
  • Sacrifice: The critical strike damage is increased by 30%, but you will lose the ability to summon a golem ever again.

Conclusion

Armed with this guide, you now have all the information about golems. Now, it is time to dive into action by summoning your golem and striking fear in enemies’ hearts.
