When it comes to exploring and covering distances for a quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Zonai Wings is the best glider a player can opt for. The reason why the Zonai Wings are so good in the game is that players can attach fans to their Zonai Wings, making the process of flying and covering long distances in the game much more manageable.
There is no set of instructions in the game on how to fly the Zonai Wings, and it can be a little tricky to launch the Zonai Wings. So, here are some ways that can help you easily fly the Zonai Wings.
How to find the Zonai Wings in the Game?
The Zonai Wings can be acquired through the Zonai Device Dispenser, which is located at different locations throughout Hyrule. Some of these locations include:
- Great Sky Islands at coordinates (0773,-1265,1579)
- East Hebra Sky Archipelago at coordinates (-1711,3373,0948)
- Lanayru Sky Archipelago at coordinates (2914,0509,0951)
When you reach one of these Zonai Dispensers, just put in the Zonai Charges to trade them for Zonai Devices. You can get Wings, a Portable Pot, a Flame Emitter, etc.
How to Use The Zonai Wings?
You can use the ‘Rails‘ to fly off the Zonai Wings into the air; these Rails are placed at different locations on the map, one location being the Sky Islands.
The idea here is to use the Ultra Hand and place the Zonai Wings on the Rails. The Rails are placed at a downward angle, allowing them to act as a slide. Once the Wings are on the Rail, jump on the Wings, and they would start to slide off, picking up speed, and finally, you will be gliding.
Now once you are in the air, you can control the Wings very easily by Link’s position on the Wing. So just:
- To make the wing go left, walk Link towards the left side of the Wing.
- To make it go right, similarly walk Link towards the right side.
- If you want the wing to make a dive, just walk Link towards the front end of the wing.
- And if you want it to gain altitude, walk Link to the back end of the wing (Fans are needed).
One thing of significance here is that The Zonai Device is not going to last forever; there is a time limit of 1 minute once you start the glide. When you reach the 45-second mark, your Zonai Wing will start flashing green, signaling that after 15 seconds, the Zonai Wing will vanish.
Now you aren’t going to have Rails like these everywhere on the map, so there are other methods to get the wing in the air.
How to use the Zonai Wings without a Rail?
To fly the wing without the rail, you will need to use the Ultra Hand and the Recall ability. Place the Zonai Wing in the air over the edge of a cliff or a Sky Island by using the Ultra Hand. Keep the Zonai Wing a little lower than the edge as it would be easier for you to jump on it.
Now use the Recall Ability on the wing, so that the Wing will remain in its place allowing you to jump on it; the wing will start to glide in the air. Do this to make sure you’ll be able to get on the Wing in time. While you are using the Ultra Hand on the wing, wiggle the wing just a tiny bit left and right for a few seconds; this will also increase the duration of Recall to hold the Wing in its place, making it easier for you to jump.
Skydiving Trick
Another trick to fly off on your Zonai Wing is to do the Sky Diving Trick. To do that follow these steps
- Start gliding from a Sky Island, and open your Glider.
- Once the glider is open, use the Zonai Wing Capsule under you.
- If you get the timing right you will jump on the Zonai Wing in time and continue your Glide.
This Method requires a little practice to get the timing right.
Using Fans and Rockets on Zonai Wing
You can attach Fans, Rockets, and a Steering Stick to your Zonai Wings,
- If you just want to hold your altitude, simply put a single Fan at the back of the Zonai Wing, as a single fan would be best at maintaining altitude instead of two fans because of the battery drain. There will be some altitude drop even with the fan attached.
- Alternatively, if you want to go upwards or gain altitude, you would need to put two fans on each of the wings. Additionally, you can put three fans for the altitude gain, but it will come at the cost of battery drain.
You can attach Rockets on each side of the Zonai Wing just like the Fans. The Rockets provide sudden propulsion for a short amount of time. Furthermore, a Steering Stick can be attached in the middle to steer the Zon
