Nintendo has announced a new twist in its latest Zelda game, “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” available on September 26, 2024, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. For the first time in an official game, Princess Zelda will be the main character.
The new trailer showcases several enticing features. One of the key highlights is the “Still World,” a strange place accessible through special openings in Hyrule. This new area challenges players with unique dungeons, tough bosses, and tricky landscapes filled with puzzles and dangers. In addition to Hyrule, the Still World is connected through rifts that each lead to different sections, where people, objects, and terrain are frozen in time.
The game features a similar art style to “Link’s Awakening.” The player controls Princess Zelda, who can use the power of the magical Tri Rod to create “echoes,” which are imitations of objects and monsters that can be used freely. She can also “bind” objects with Bond, allowing an object to move with her, or move with an object using Reverse Bond.
In the Still World, Zelda can transform into a powerful “Swordfighter Form,” resembling Link. This temporary state allows her to wield a magical sword and fight enemies directly, marking a significant departure from her traditional role. This form can only be used for a limited time before its energy must be replenished by collecting orbs of energy found in the Still World, adding a strategic element to its use.
The game introduces “Echoes,” a feature that helps Zelda solve puzzles and combat enemies. Players can also find clockwork items that offer new attack methods, adding depth to the gameplay. Zelda’s travel methods include echoes, fast travel sites called Waypoints, on foot, or on horseback. She can also change outfits or equipment and combine ingredients to purchase smoothies.
Fans will appreciate features like paragliding and horse racing, enhancing the classic Zelda gameplay elements. Along with the dual-world concept seen in games like “A Link to the Past” and “A Link Between Worlds,” these additions promise an exciting adventure.
While rescuing Zelda from Ganon, Link disappears into the Still World after falling into a mysterious rift, with similar rifts appearing throughout Hyrule and causing others to disappear into the Still World, including its king. Zelda sets out to save Link, the king, and Hyrule with help from the mysterious fairy Tri, who gives her the Tri Rod. Many people of Hyrule appear throughout the game, including the Deku Scrubs, Gerudo, Gorons, and river and ocean Zora.
As the release date approaches, excitement continues to build. “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” is now available for pre-order on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
