In Wild Hearts, the boss fights become increasingly challenging, but players can rely on the Tsukumos robotic companion for assistance in moments of danger. This companion offers a strategic advantage over opponents, allowing players to secure success even through the smallest openings. This underestimated character can prove to be a worthy ally.
How to Unlock Tsukumo?
To get Tsukumo as a companion, you must find them first and then befriend them. You can find them in Harugasumi Way, where you won’t be able to spot them easily but will hear a mechanical clatter that will alert you of their presence. Follow the sound to the source, and you’ll find the Tsukumos.
Once you spot most of them in one region, it will get hard for you to find the rest. For this, you can unlock the Deep Probe upgrade, which can be found in the Karakuri tech tree. This will build a hunting tower allowing you to locate as many Tsukumos as possible on the map. They appear as question marks (?) on the map.
How to Upgrade Tsukumo?
Once you have befriended a Tsukumo, it is time to upgrade it.
You would’ve noticed while befriending the Tsukumo, you are awarded an old cog from each Tsukumo. These can be used to enhance their abilities, and each Tsukumo will provide you with only one Old Cog. Use them by resting at a campfire and selecting the option to ‘Enhance Tsukumo. The maximum level you can upgrade is level 10, and the cost takes an increment after upgrading through every level.
Note: People who want to remove the upgrades they have applied to their companion can do so after visiting the campfire. You need to select the option for reset on the screen and pay the mentioned amount of Kemono Orbs.
What Are the Benefits of Tsukumo Upgrades?
Tsukumo, your faithful companion in Wild Hearts, stands by your side during challenging moments, offering valuable assistance. The more upgrades and enhancements you provide to Tsukumo, the greater support it will offer, ensuring a smoother journey through the game’s challenges. Here are some benefits of upgrading them:
Increases Karakuri Thread Count
One of the significant advantages of upgrading your Tsukumo in Wild Hearts is the increased maximum capacity of your Karakuri thread. As the game progresses, the maximum number of Karakuri Threads you can hold for your hunter is increased to 24.
Grants Support Abilities
This companion does not only help you by fighting off your opponent with you but also plays many support roles. Depending on your upgrade level, Tsukumo can release a mist that helps you heal while you continue to engage the opponent. Another kind of support this companion may offer is releasing Karakuri Thread for you to pick up if you are low on it.
Gives the Tsukumo Model Head Ornament
Once you fully upgrade your Tsukumo, you will be awarded a head ornament of the Tsukumo Model. You can equip it by talking to Natsume in Minato, or you can equip it from the Forge.
Which Upgrades Should You Pick for Tsukumo?
Once you have built the Campfire Dragon Karakuri, you can upgrade Tsukumo in four different forms. Let’s discuss all the forms, and then we’ll get to the most recommended form to be elevated.
Assist Form
This is the first form of upgrade available. It allows the Tsukumo to release a healing mist when the player is low on HP. It does so automatically or without any command from the player. Upgrading the assist form will also decrease the time it takes to revive after the Tsukumo has been knocked out.
Threader Form
This form is valuable if you are in the late-game stages and the fights are more challenging than usual, and spending threads are more often than usual. This form speeds up the time for recharging the threads deployed by the Tsukumo.
Defense Form
The ability to guard itself is increased with the upgrade of each level. The Tsukumo becomes sturdier and stands its ground while facing the enemy.
Attack Form
The amount of attack dealt by every blow of Tsukumo increases with the upgrade of every level. This helps to fight off Kemono much faster.
Recommended Priority for Upgrading Forms
It is recommended that every player first focuses on upgrading the Assist and Threader forms. These provide the best advantages to the player, as mentioned above. Upgrading the Defense and Attack form should be the last priority.
