In the world of the Elden Ring, the player can use different spells that can provide various perks that aid you in a battle. These spells are called incantations in Elden Ring and offer quite a wide variety that can be used for attacking, healing, and even buffing your stats. You can acquire these while traversing the lands or from a vendor.
Despite being a crucial element of the game, many players remain confused about how to use incantations. This guide will take you through every step you need to perform to cast charms.
How to Use Incantations?
Incantations differ from sorcery because they use Faith instead of Intelligence, which helps restore your health faster than sorcery. All classes can use them if you meet the minimum requirements of the spell. To use an incantation, the first thing you need to do is get a sacred seal.
Get a Sacred Seal
Like every sorcery needs a wand to shoot with, incantations need a Sacred Seal. These come in a great variety, each having its perks. If you start the game with the Prophet or Confessor class, you will have a Sacred Seal equipped. However, if you are not playing from the mentioned class, you can get access to Sacred Seal after the encounter with Margit. After the encounter, Melina will speak with you at any site of grace and describe the “Roundtable Hold.” If you access it through the bottom left corner of the map, you will enter a hub where two mummified witches will sell you Finger Seal for 800 runes. They are located in a room past the corridor at the left.
Finger Seal is the ideal Seal you want to start with because not only does it offer high scaling at lower Faith levels, but it also has fewer stats requirements that you need to fulfill.
Memorize Spells
Before you can start memorizing spells, you must build up your intelligence level, as each incantation requires a different level. You can memorize them resting at a site of grace and selecting the option for “Memorize Spell.”
Here, you will find various incantations available to you that you can assign to slots above them. Whichever spell you place on a space will be memorized, and you can replace the spell by removing it from the slot and adding another.
In the beginning, you will have just a few slots for allotting incantations, but you can increase them to 10 by finding all the Memory Stones in the game.
Cast Incantation
Once you have equipped your Sacred Seal and memorized your spells, it is time that you learn to cast them. First, you must toggle to select an incantation by pressing the upward arrow button on a PC or the Upward button on a D-pad in case of a console. Once a spell is set, cast it by pressing the R1 button on an Xbox, RB on a PlayStation, or left-click on the mouse for a PC.
Note: Some incantations must be charged before they are cast to increase their potency, and charging attack incantations will also increase the area of effect. If you are charging spells in a battle, stay clear of the enemy, or you will be rendered vulnerable to their attacks.
If you didn’t know how to use incantations, you are now fully equipped to march in battle. Remember to use Flask of Cerulean Tears often to replenish your FP bar for casting spells as much as possible.
FAQs
What stats should I level up for casting better incantations?
Most Spells depend on your Faith level, which means the more potent your incantation will be if you have a higher Faith. Keeping a Faith level of at least 60 would be best to deal maximum damage. The other stat you need to keep your eye on is Mind. Keeping this at a high level as 40 will help you mitigate the draining of mana, hence reducing the use of Cerulean Flask.
What are the best incantations in Elden Ring?
Some of the best incantations you can use in the Elden ring are Golden Vow (increases attack and defense), Great Heal (restores your and your ally’s health), and Barrier of Gold (reduces damage taken by you and your partners).
