Krakow-based studio Wooden Alien has just announced its debut title, Space Prison, which requires players to push through the ranks and brawl their way to intergalactic freedom. The developers teased a trailer for the tactical turn-based survivor brawler, but no release date was announced. The game will be released on various platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.
The first look at Space Prison undoubtedly piqued the interest of XCOM fans. It has comic-style graphics, which is precisely what an indie game demands. If you’re wondering how a newly established studio pulled this off, the Wooden Alien team includes veterans from well-known AAA titles like Witcher 3 and Dying Light.
Hubert Kubit, the CEO of Wooden Alien, said in a press release that the game is a perfect blend of survival tactics and social dynamics. He said:
We wanted to create a game that would immerse players in a detailed sci-fi adventure universe and offer them a truly unique gameplay experience.

The title combines tactical survival with cell-based building elements and further includes a uniquely dynamic social system to put the players to the ultimate test. The game takes place in an intergalactic security prison, and players are required to unveil the secrets of the prison. In order to survive the grim circumstances, you will need allies and face off against enemies to climb the ranks of the social dynamics in the game.
The game features a variety of characters, each with its own set of weapons and equipment that can be upgraded. As you progress through the game, you can collect collectibles and scraps from the overworld to upgrade and customize your equipment. All in all, the game appears to be nothing short of an exceptional indie title at first glance. Space Prison is now available on Steam, and you can join the community to support the game developers.
