Sins of A Solar Empire 2, Stardock’s sequel to the classic game, has released today in early access. This version of the game gives players a look into the game, as it’ll feature new mechanics, which will now be a part of the franchise. This also shows off the game’s new engine.
Sins Of A Solar Empire 2 promises to be a worthy sequel to the original, as it will again focus on the 4X gameplay and real-time strategy. The sequel aims to give an immersive look into space warfare and will feature lots of new content.
In Sins Of A Solar Empire II, players will be put in the middle of the war between the Vasari, TEC, and Advent once again, as they fight each other and enemies greater than themselves. The sequel promises to be in-depth, as each race will have gameplay mechanics which are not present in the others, distinguishing them from each other. They’ll also have new and returning units, along with vast research trees and sub-factions. In the sequel, players will assume the mantle of a leader of one of the factions.
Stardock is hoping that the early access debut of the game will feel more like an “old-school style beta program” than a regular one. They’re hoping they and Ironclad will improve the game before it fully launches. This means that players who can currently play the game will be able to influence the RTS mechanics of the game by giving feedback.
Early access is only available to some, as those who have pre-ordered the game can play it. It will start as a single-player focused test, as players will only be able to play as a TEC faction. The team hopes this will allow players to give feedback on various gameplay mechanics. The preview tests of the game will be released in multiple phases; this preview is the first phase. Going by the development roadmap, multiplayer will be added in Q1 2023. These are followed by the alpha and betas, hopefully leading to a full launch.
