The current max level cap in Borderlands 3 is 72 due to the updates. The game’s initial max level cap was 50 when it was released on September 13, 2019. Since then the game has received multiple updates with many DLCs and in the latest update they have increased the max level cap from 50 to 72.

Once you reach the max level of 72 in Borderlands 3 you won’t gain any experience points thus you won’t be unlocking any new skill points rather that experience points will contribute towards your Guardian Rank. The Guardian Rank is limitless and will continue to reward you with tokens that will increase your stats and you can also unlock new skills in the Enforcer, Survivor, and Hunter skill trees.
