Master Sword is not only a weapon in the Zelda world, but it is a sword that is an identity element for Link. Link is not Link without this sword in its hand. The Master Sword, unlike others, doesn’t break or get destroyed, and it glows. So let’s see how to get this Nostalgic Sword in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Where is the Master Sword in Zelda: Totk?
Master Sword is located on the head of the Light Dragon. The Light Dragon is one of the four dragons in the game. It travels around Hyrule on its fixed path, and this path doesn’t get changed or altered. So, one sure thing is that if you know its set pattern, you can’t miss this dragon.
Now knowing its path is not enough because of two limiting factors that make the plan of getting on this dragon a little tricky. For one, the Dragon flies at a very high altitude of 2200 meters, making it very challenging to glide onto it. Secondly, the Light Dragon is slow. It takes the Light Dragon 112 minutes to complete one lap of its path, which means the Dragon at any given moment will take too long to come to a certain location where you could get on it.
So we need to activate the Hero’s Sword Quest. Once the quest gets activated, the game will provide an active marker for the location of the sword as the Dragon moves. Also, the Light Dragon will start to climb down to about 700-900 meters.
How to locate the Master Sword?
Firstly, we must activate the Hero’s Sword quest. Head towards the Minshi Wood’s Chasm and drop into the depths.
Once you’ve dropped down, head towards the Northwest. Upon traveling in that direction, you will reach a light root called the Rikonasm Lightroot at coordinates (0406,2134,-0592). Next to this Lightroot is a stony structure at coordinates (0437,2094,-0588). When you are here, ascend through the ceiling into The Korok Forest.
Head towards the Deku Tree and talk to it, it will provide you with the task of defeating Phantom Ganon and Gloom in its stomach, once you’ve defeated them talk to the Deku Tree once again and the Hero’s Sword quest will get activated.
Once the quest is activated, there will be an active marker on the world map, which is the location for the Master Sword. Also, the Light Dragon will start to descend to an altitude of 700-900 meters. Below is the set path on which the Dragon travels around Hyrule.
How to get the Master Sword?
Before we glide onto the Light Dragon and acquire the Master Sword, there is one thing worth noting: you need to have “Two Green Stamina Circles” (not Yellow). To get the Stamina, you would need 20 Light Blessings that you would trade with the Goddess Statues in return for Stamina. Light Blessings can be acquired in the Shrines, or you can sell Hearts for 100 and get Stamina essence from the Cursed Statue for 120. Now that you have two green stamina circles, let’s move on.
Open the game map and observe the active marker for the sword. Then fast travel to the nearest Sky Tower according to the marker and activate the tower so you get into the air. Once you spot the Dragon, start gliding towards it, and the Dragon will be around an altitude of 700-900, so it will be fairly easier to glide onto i
When you land on the Dragon, walk toward its head, and there will be the Master Sword. The game displays a prompt to grab the sword; then, you just need to hold down the grab button. The Dragon will try to throw you off; momentarily, the sequence will be completed, and a cut-scene will start. After that, the Master Sword will be in your inventory.
