Isonzo, the historical WW1 FPS, received its second update on February 28, 2023. The Piave update to the Caporetto expansion is now available on all platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
The Piave update is available to all Isonzo players for free, and according to the roadmap, it’s the second of many updates that will be released on Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
The update offers new content, including the newly added Offensive map and a few new weapons to go along with it. In addition, a few custom match options are also added to the game.
Jos Hoebe, the Founder and the Director of BlackMill Games, on the occasion of the update said:
Today marks the release of the Piave update, and we are very glad to continue expanding upon the many momentous battles that make up the Battles of the Isonzo. Of course, we won’t be stopping here – as the roadmap shows, we are already working towards the third and final part of the Caporetto update, after which we’ll move on to the next free expansion. So stay tuned for more content!

The new map, “Piave Bridgehead,” is included in the update. The players will have two options, either to side with the Italians and defend the Piave river, or they can join the ranks of the Germans and attempt to cross the river. You’ll have to wage war to make it through, no matter which side you choose.
The update also introduces two new weapons, one for each side, to even the odds. If you’re on the defending front, the Italians, you’ll have the option to equip the Beretta Modello 1917. However, if you side with the German soldiers and are on the attacking front, you will have the Mauser M1914 at your disposal.
In the new map, the battles will follow a straightforward pattern: the Germans will lead the charge, fighting their way through a vineyard and capturing the ruins of a castle at the top of the hill. Once the castle has fallen, Germans can move to their next target, the town of Vidor and its Abbey. Afterward, reaching the Piave river and its bridgehead, they must now figure out how to cross it.
On the other hand, the opposition, the Italian army, won’t be sitting idle. They will not make things easy for the Germans and throw everything in to stop them. So, based on whether you like to defend or attack, the Piave Update will give you two options.
