The open-world action RPG Hogwarts Legacy was first released on February 10 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. However, last-generation consoles had to wait a little longer. The game was eventually released on May 5 for PS4 and Xbox One, but Nintendo users were given a July 25 release date for Switch.
Hogwarts Legacy is set in J. K. Rowling’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter and was originally scheduled for release across all platforms in the holiday season of 2022, but the release date was pushed back. Now, it appears that WB Games made the right decision in postponing the game’s release, as evidenced by recent sales figures. While the game has been released on other platforms, unfortunately, Nintendo Switch will not see the launch of Hogwarts Legacy till the latter half of the year.
The official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account announced the delay of the game on the Nintendo Switch platform. The tweet revealed that the release date of Hogwarts Legacy for Switch has been pushed back to November 14, 2023. The developers said that the delay is made to ensure the best possible experience on the Switch.
Since the Nintendo Switch hardware is now around six years old, optimizing AAA games for the platform takes time. We hope that Avalanche Software developers will deliver the smoothest experience and that the wait will be worthwhile for Nintendo Switch owners.
