While traveling the cosmos in Starfield, you will come across a planet, Porrima 3, located on the top of the Porrima Star System. This planet features an exciting and challenging quest called the Red Mile Race.

Red Mile is an illegal gambling ring that puts you through a deadly race before you can get an audience with Crimson Fleet for other quests. This sounds very simple when said that you have to make your way to the lighthouse and return, but it is not, as it will take you straight into the enemy lair. However, there is one easy way to finish this race quickly. To find out how, follow the guide below.

What Is the Red Mile Race?

Red Mile Race is a quest you will encounter when you visit the Red Mile casino, and for this, you will have to make your way to the beacon and back. Before starting this race, you have to interact with the NPC, Adler Kemp, who will contact the leaders of the Fleet after you impress him with your survival skills.

When you start the race, you will encounter poisonous plants, space maulers, and enormous rocks. You can easily dodge the obstacles, but the maulers will not let you pass by so easily. You can continue forward by defeating them or by evading them. Whichever strategy you choose, maulers will give you a hard time by shooting explosives at you.

Once you reach the beacon, you must activate it and then return to where you started.

Note: The Red Mile Race is not limited to a specific faction, but you can attempt this quest regardless of what faction you chose for the game.

What Do I Need to Gather for the Red Mile Race?

Finishing the Red Mile Race relies on what equipment you have on you and how efficiently you use it. Remember to stock up before signing up for the race because once you do, the window for equipping resources is closed. Equip the following to complete the challenge quickly:

  • Medpacks: The enemies you’ll cross on the way will constantly fire at you, so you will need medkits more than you think.
  • Laser Weapon: Keeping a laser weapon helps you maintain your distance from the enemies so you can move past the course.
  • Exterminator Mod on Weapon: You can damage the aliens an extra 30%.
  • Beast Hunter Mod: It reduces the damage taken from aliens by 15% percent, as most of their attacks cause area-of-effect damage.
  • Boost Pack: You must efficiently utilize the jetpack boost capacity to pass the enemies by boosting through them.
  • Mantis Spacesuit: This suit is perfect for this race, but you can switch to any suit with high insulation.

How Do You Complete the Red Mile Race?

After equipping all the items mentioned above, talk to Mei and then move to the elevator that will take you to the starting line.

Upon arrival, you will notice three pathways for the race. Now, your survival depends upon which route you choose for the race. You will encounter enemies in all the paths, but the highest chance of competing will be in the pathway on the left, as the right one is a little long, and the one in the middle features a problematic boss. Follow the left lane and use boost while going downhill to reduce the impact and when the enemies are closing in to create distance.

Remember to use the medpacks every time your health goes down and keep firing against the enemies who eventually close in. Remember, don’t stop to fight aliens, or you may lose the challenge as they gang up on you.

Get to the beacon, activate it, and use the same path to get back. Follow the same strategy to return to the finish line, and you’ll have completed the race in no time.

The Red Mile Race requires efficient resource management, especially regarding the jetpack boost capacity. Don’t use it to sprint all the way, but to escape the obstacles because your victory relies on how you use it.

FAQs

What are the rewards for completing the race?

Successfully ending the race will reward you with random gear and 5,000 credits. If you rerun this quest, you’ll only be rewarded with credits.
