Just a few hours before Konami’s event, it seems as though Silent Hill 2 remake leaked earlier than expected. A few days ago, Konami revealed a Silent Hill event that excited many fans as they wondered what the horror franchise’s future would be like. There seem to be various leaks regarding the event, including one that confirms the months-old rumor that a brand new Silent Hill 2 remake is in the works.
Twitter user Nibel first discovered the information. Nibel found that the Silent Hill Transmission‘s metadata on YouTube contained information about various Silent Hill projects. These include projects titled “Silent Hill Ascension,” “Return to Silent Hill,” and “Silent Hill 2”. The reveal of these leaks is a bit ill-timed as the Silent Hill Transmission event is happening on October 19th at 2 PM PT and 5 PM ET, which is today’s time of writing. While the Silent Hill 2 tag might be a coincidence, there have been various rumors over the past couple of months that a remake of Silent Hill 2 is in the works. This makes sense, as Silent Hill 2 is the franchise’s most famous game, so it’s easy to believe that Konami would work on a remake.
This is not the only proof of a Silent Hill 2 remake, as, before a stream, a Twitch user named Survival Horror Network stated that they received an email from Twitch stating that their stream contains copyrighted content. The name of the copyrighted content was said to be “Silent Hill 2: Part 1”. This has made some people speculate that the Silent Hill 2 remake might be split into multiple parts, similar to 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake.
As for the developers of the remake, rumors have been circulating for months that Bloober Team has been working on a Silent Hill project, such as a Silent Hill 2 remake. Bloober Team is known for various other horror titles, such as Layers of Fear and Observer. However, Silent Hill fans don’t seem to be happy with the news that the Bloober Team might be working on a remake due to various issues regarding the quality of their games. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see until the event by Konami officially kicks off.
