Fire Emblem Engage is the latest title of the long-running Fire Emblem Series. In addition to the brand-new main cast, the game allows players to summon aid from previous Fire Emblem heroes like Roy, Ike, and Lucina. Needless to say, a series this long will inevitably have to go through a few major changes along its life-time, such as the addition of the non-permadeath casual mode. One of the most fan favorites is the marriage and the child unit system, a feature that was popularized by the 2010’s Fire Emblem Awakening.
Fire Emblem Three Houses maintained the focus on romance options, but devalued their mechanical significance while saving marriage for the end of the story and completely removing the child units. Now, the passionate players who romanticize this feature wonder how Fire Emblem Engage treats it.
Can You Get Married In Fire Emblem Engage?
Well, it is possible and not possible at the same time. Because Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates’ discrete application of the marriage and child unit system isn’t really coming back. Alternatively, Intelligent System chose to reanimate the mechanical depth of child units through Emblem Rings. It allows the players to blend their soldiers’ skills with much less investment.
Apart from all that, the game is still pretty much character-focused, giving every character its own arc, while tending the support story-line between the protagonists and their followers towards romance. The game also features marriage, however, it is named as the Pact Ring System.
Now, once a player has their units at A-rank, they are provided with a Pact Ring. The pact ring can be used to upgrade a unit to S-rank. Players can only do it once, also the cutscene that goes with it represents it as an engagement for nearly all the characters — a lasting vow of affection and loyalty.
The game also doesn’t limit the pact ring options to the player character’s gender. Every character is available and they all react the same way to the proposal, whether the player chooses to be a man or a woman. In conclusion, everything depends on what the player is looking for. They might not be able to get the same mechanic from marriage, however, they can still get the character connections and chances for shipping.
That is all you need about marriage in Fire Emblem Engage. Hopefully, this article was helpful for you in some way. Thanks for reading and Have Fun!
