Ancient Debris is a rare ore found in the nether, requiring a lot of mining to get a hold of it. With Ancient Debris, you can get netherite scraps, which can be used to make Netherite Armour and tools. Another quality of Ancient Debris is that it is resistant to typical explosions. It also floats on lava and can’t be burned by any fire.
Acquiring Ancient Debris in Minecraft
To get Ancient Debris, You must have a pickaxe of diamond tier or higher. If you mine it with anything else, it’ll drop nothing. You have a high chance of finding Ancient Debris at Y-Level 16, and you can only get 1.5 Ancient Debris blocks per chunk. In Java Edition, You can only get up to two clusters per chunk, that is Ancient Debris. Meanwhile, In Bedrock Edition, You get up to five clusters per chunk.
You can find Ancient Debris quickly by the following methods.
- Strip Mining (Cheapest.)
- Bed Mining (Requires a lot of wool.)
- TNT Mining (More expensive than Bed Mining.)
Strip Mining
Strip Mining is the cheapest option in the list, as all you need is a diamond pickaxe. You want to avoid mining in Crimson Forest and Basalt Biome. You will get Hoglins in Crimson Forest, and Basalt Biome has hard blocks that will take a lot of time to get through. With all these precautions, Get to Y-Level 16 and just strip mine.
Bed Mining
This is faster than strip mining, as you just have to dig and place beds. Once you right-click on the bed, it’ll explode, expanding more area for you to look for Ancient Debris. The best thing you can do is to have a wool farm for the supply of beds.
TNT Mining
TNT Mining also includes a bit of strip mining. You have to dig a long, narrow tunnel depending on how much TNT you have. Then, place a TNT at the end of the Tunnel, and after every four blocks, place another TNT to get a lot more expansion. You need a good shovel to get sand and a creeper farm to get the gunpowder to make TNTs.
