Microsoft has confirmed that it will release Return To Monkey Island and the roguelike action game Vampire Survivors for Xbox Series and Xbox One on November 8th and 10th, respectively; the games will be available through Xbox Game Pass.
Developed by Ron Gilbert’s Terrible Toybox and published by Devolver Digital and Lucasfilm Games, Return to Monkey Island is the sixth entry in the Monkey Island series. The game was shared in a blog post by Ron Gilbert on April 1, 2022, before being properly announced three days later. It takes place right after Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. This game is not considered a sequel to that game but follows the lore of the previous entries. It features many of the same crew as the original game, such as Dominic Armato, who voices Guybrush Tripwood, writer Dave Grossman and programmer David Fox and composers Michael Land, Peter McConnell, and Clint Bajakian.
Vampire Survivors is a time survival game with minimal gameplay and rogue elements. It’s a simple yet addictive roguelike with a surprising amount of depth to its mechanics. Players must use their skills to survive until death ends the fight. Facing hordes of enemies can be daunting at first, but once you collect enough gold in each run to buy upgrades, you unlock new weapons and abilities and defeat them all, which enables you to help the next survivor. The Xbox version will be available from November 10 through Xbox Game Pass for $4.99 and includes all new content and updates added to the PC version.
