Street Fighter X Tekken is a joint venture between Capcom and Bandai Namco Studios. The crossover between the two games features characters from both games as well as some that are not present in both franchises. The game’s mechanics are Capcom Style, as it was developed by Capcom. The Gems system was introduced in the game, which was a bit controversial at the time of the game’s release. Gems were used in the game to customize the fighting abilities of the characters.

Playstyle
Every Character in the game has its unique Archetype, which can either be Rushdown or Zoning or a mix-up of two Archetypes.
Rushdown
The Rushdown characters possess an aggressive play style, these types of characters need to be played in a very close range of the facing character. Rushdown characters possess fast attack moves that give the other character no other option but to dodge these high-damage attacks which leads the other character to get trapped in a corner which makes getting out difficult. In Street Fighter “Cammy” is a perfect example of Rushdown Archetypes, and Nina in Tekken.
Zoning
Alternatively to Rusdown Characters, The Zoning Characters love the space between them and the facing character. These characters possess an ability that would prohibit the facing character from getting in their close range, these abilities might be Fire Balls or other projectiles.
In Street Fighter, “Dhalism” is a good “Zoning” Archetype, and “Asuka” in Tekken.
Footsie
Footsie is more of a certain Playstyle instead of an Archetype. The players opting for this play style use their Foot attacks to their advantage as the name suggests. The players that opt for this play style need to be very vigilant about their movement and timing as to when to back up and advance toward the character. A character possessing heavy damage attacks can be used as a Footsie, Chun-Li can be used as a Footsie in Street Fighter, and Asuka in Tekken.
Gems System
In Street Fighter X Tekken, the “Gems” system was introduced, these gems assist in the match, The Gems need to be set before the match starts in the Gems Unit, once set players can activate them. There are two types of Gems in the game, Assist Gems assist a player with controls in the game, Boost Gems enhance the defense and attack capabilities. Some gems might work for a defined duration only.
