In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, batteries play a crucial role in the game, as there are several different vehicles and devices that require them. Any vehicle with mechanical parts will use battery power, and even Link’s Zonai Devices outside of shrines are powered by batteries, emphasizing their importance in Tears of the Kingdom.
Batteries have a limited power supply and while they do recharge, it takes some time, which can be frustrating if you want to travel long distances or use Zonai Devices to solve puzzles and the battery runs out. In this guide, we will provide you with all the information required on how you can obtain more batteries.
Crystallized Charges:
You can replenish and get additional Energy Cells by using your Zonai Charges, but they only provide temporary energy extensions. To permanently obtain more batteries in the game, you’ll need Crystallized Charges.
Chests:
You can find Crystallized Charges in treasure chests located near the Depths. If luck is on your side, you may find Large Crystallized Charges in one of the chests, which are equivalent to 20 regular ones.
Bosses:
Additionally, bosses in The Depths drop Crystallized Charges once you defeat them. Bosses such as Frox, Obsidian Frox, and Blue-White Frox are some examples.
Zonaite:
Zonaite is a material in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that can be traded for Crystallized Charges. You can obtain Zonaite from Zonaite Ores found in Mines in The Depths.
Some of the mines where you can find Zonaite Ores are:
- “Hylia Canyon Mine” is located at Coordinates (-1267, -2248, -0707)
- “Daphnes Canyon Mine” is located at Coordinates (-0177, -0557, -0514)
- “Faloraa Canyon Mine” is located at Coordinates (-0950, -2569, -0502).
Once you’ve found a Zonaite Ore, we recommend using Fire Bombs on them to mine Zonaite as this will speed up the process.
How to trade Zonaite for Crystallized Charges?
Once you have the Zonaite, you can trade it with the Forge Construct, you can find one of the constructs located in the Mining Cave that you Explore at the start of the Game, it is on the southern end of the sky island below the floating island with a pond, The Mining Cave Coordinates are (0388, -1623, 1412). Make your way into the cave and you’ll find a Forge Construct.
You can trade your Zonaite in return for Crystallized Charges. For “3” Zonaites, you will get “1” Crystallized Charge from the Construct, But there is a catch here: the construct, at any given time, has a limited supply of the Crystallized Charges. When all of the crystallized Charges are traded, you are left with no option but to wait for them to be restocked.
We recommend you complete One Regional Phenomenon, as it will then lead you to A Mystery in the Depths(Optional) Main Quest. After you defeat the Boss Master Khoga and finish the quest you will acquire Auto Build, as well as New Forge Locations. The forge discovered in the Abandon Central Mine at Coordinates (-0861, -1941, -0522) has a much bigger stock than the one in the Mining Cave.
This Forge also offers Large Crystallized Charges in return for Large Zonaite, The quantity of the Large Zonatie required for the trade is the same as the regular Zonaite (3 Large Zonatie for 1 Large Crystallized Charge), however 1 Large Crystallized Charge is equal to 20 Small ones.
How to Upgrade Batteries?
After you’ve acquired Crystallized Charges, head toward the Crystal Refinery which is near the Nachoyah Shrine on the Great Sky Island.
When you are here, you will find another Construct, upon talking to him you can acquire Energy Wells by giving your Crystallized Charges to him.
In return for giving 100 Crystallized Energy Charges, you will get 1 Energy Well, whereas a whole Battery Pack has a total of 3 Energy Wells. Link can acquire a maximum of 8 Battery Packs which totals up to 24 Energy Wells, Since Link already has 1 Battery Pack given to him by the game, you will need to get another 21 Energy Wells to reach the maximum capacity.
Since you need 100 Crystallized Energy Charges for 1 Energy Well, you would require 2100 Crystallized Charges for the whole process.
