Hogwarts Legacy offers 30+ spells to use in combat against foes and some of them like Petrificus Totalus even allow players to become cruel sneaky assassins. Eliminating enemies by making them frozen statues and remaining undetected sounds like the most extraordinary feat in the world of wizardry but casting this spell is not as easy as you might think. Unlocking Petrificus Totalus
It becomes accessible as a result of completing an early game quest from Sebastian called “Secrets of the Restricted Section.” This mission is basically a sneaking class for the player as you learn about the Disillusionment charm allowing you to be invisible and exploring the restricted area. After being familiar with sneaking, you will be granted Petrificus Totalus in your magic list.
Casting Petrificus Totalus
It is recommended to set your spell wheel before exploring out in the open world. However, to start with your assassinations, assign Petrificus Totalus along with Disillusionment in the Wheel. Now before engaging with the enemies head-on, cast disillusionment on yourself and sneak behind the enemy, a prompt will appear as soon as you reach the castable range of Petrificus Totalus. Press the required key shown on the prompt (different for every platform) to cast the spell and paralyze/eliminate the target.
Higher-level enemies such as trolls or ranked wizards do not get one-shot by Petrificus Totalus but it deals them a significant amount of damage making the rest of the combat easier. Another advantage of this spell is that it can be multi-targeted, if the enemies are close to each other, you just have to be fast enough with your keys to get the perfect timing for the double elimination.
