When Fortnite initially launched, supply drops descended onto the Fortnite island during a match. These drops held valuable loot, but going for them used to be risky as other players contested to get their hands on the loot.
Supply drops were eventually vaulted in Fortnite’s Chapter 4, Season 2, and were replaced with Combat Caches. Here’s everything players need to know about Combat Caches so that they can decide whether they are worth going for or not.
How to Locate Combat Caches
Once the Third Storm Circle is revealed and the timer hits 1:30 minutes, a Combat Cache will appear on the map for you to retrieve. Multiple Combat Caches will spawn on the map, but only one will be revealed for the player. The same Combat Cache will be marked on an enemy player’s map, causing both players to compete for the same Combat Cache
Once a Combat Cache has spawned, it will be instantly marked on the player’s screen. The player can either remove the marker or head straight to the marked location to loot it.
How to Retrieve a Combat Cache
Here’s how players can Retrieve a Combat Cache:
- Once players come across the Combat Cache, to Retrieve the loot inside the Combat Cache, players need to go near the Combat Cache.
- Once you get near it, hold on to the designated key bind to Recover Cache.
- Once it starts to recover, a short-timer will appear.
- Once the timer is finished, the Combat Cache will burst open.
The Combat Cache contains multiple Rare weapons along with Healables and 200 Metal. Even though it drops Rare weapons, opening it can still be worth it if you need shields or some extra materials.
