Stronghold is the main structure in the overworld that spawns underground. It is one of the largest structures in the game which consists of libraries, several rooms and much more. Stronghold is also the structure in which the Ender Portal spawns. This portal can be used to travel to the End Dimension. It is where the Ender Dragon resides.
Sometimes, the Stronghold can be spawned underwater, but is not exposed to the water. In Java Edition, Stronghold is spawned at random locations after almost every 2000-3000 blocks. While in the Bedrock Edition, most Strongholds spawn under a village. The Stronghold doesn’t have a fixed height in world generation. Although, it is best to search for it between base levels Y=0 and Y= -64 in the Bedrock level of the world. According to some research, this is where the most of Strongholds spawn.
How to Find the Stronghold in Minecraft?
There are only three ways to find a Stronghold in Minecraft and in this guide, we’ll show you each way how to do them.
Eye of Ender
The first way to find the Stronghold is with an Eye of Ender. To make Eye of Ender you need Ender Pearls and Blaze Powder. Ender Pearls can be obtained by killing Endermens. Use these Ender Pearls along with Blaze Powder to craft Eye of Ender. Place an Ender Pearl in the center square and Blaze Powder in any of the squares around it
Now, follow the steps below to find the Stronghold in your Minecraft world:
- Throw the Eye of Ender
First of all, equip the Eye of Ender from your hotbar. Once equipped, throw it in the air to see which direction it goes.
You will now see the Eye of Ender float up in the air, hover and finally drop to the ground. The direction toward which your Eye of Ender goes is the direction you wanna go towards. The Eye of Ender breaks after throwing it a few times. If after throwing an Eye of Ender it doesn’t break, you can pick it up and throw it again.
- Spot Where the Eye of Ender Hovers
Continue throwing the Eye of Ender into the air until it hovers over one spot. This is where the Stronghold will be.
- Dig Down
Start digging down at the spot where the Eye of Ender keeps hovering. Keep going until you see stone blocks and mossy stone blocks.
Once you see stone bricks and mossy stone bricks, you will have reached the Stronghold.
Once inside the Stronghold, you can explore many rooms, corridors and a Library to loot chests and find the Ender Portal.
Commands
By activating cheats from your settings, you can use the in-game command to locate the Stronghold in Minecraft. The command to find it is : /locate structure minecraft:stronghold .
