Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has made a significant change from other Pokémon games, allowing players to explore the Paldea region however they like. This means that to progress into the story, players can take on Gym Leaders, Titans, and Team Star Battles in whatever order they want.
So, in what order should you tackle the story? Here’s what you need to know.
Is switching between paths possible?
Certainly! This is one of the greatest things about Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. You don’t have to do any single path in one go, as the game allows you to jump between all paths whenever you want to. Of course, this also means you can complete one of the paths at a time.
The only restriction is obedience(this controls the level of pokémons that obey you).
Which path should you take?
You can start with whatever path pleases you! The unique aspect of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is that it lets you openly do whatever suits you. You can even take on Team Star in Starfall Street right off the beginning.
If you are willing to jump between all three paths, Victory Road, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street, the difficulty curve is much smoother and easier. The best order to defeat the total 18 objectives is as follows:
- Cortondo Gym (Bug)
- The Stony Cliff Titan (South Province – Area Three)
- Artazon Gym (Grass)
- The Open Sky Titan (West Province – Area One)
- Team Star’s Dark Crew (West Province – Area One)
- Lavincia Gym (Electric)
- Team Star’s Fire Crew (East Province – Area One)
- The Lurking Steel Titan (East Province – Area Three)
- Cascarrafa Gym (Water)
- Team Star’s Poison Crew (Tagtree Thicket)
- Medali Gym (Normal)
- Montenevera Gym (Ghost)
- The Quaking Earth Titan (Asado Desert)
- Alfornada Gym (Psychic)
- Glaseado Gym (Ice)
- Team Star’s Fairy Crew (North Province – Area Three)
- The False Dragon Titan (Casseroya Lake)
- Team Star’s Fighting Crew (North Province – Area Two)
- Elite Four
- Poco Path Lighthouse
- Team Star’s Leader
Victory Road – Gym Order
Gym leaders can be taken on in any order. However, each leader’s team has a set level that does not scale according to our current level.
The best Gym order along with their elements:
- Cortondo Gym (Bug)
- Artazon Gym (Grass)
- Lavincia Gym (Electric)
- Cascarrafa Gym (Water)
- Medali Gym (Normal)
- Montenevera Gym (Ghost)
- Alfornada Gym (Psychic)
- Glaseado Gym (Ice)
The Elite Four can only be taken on after you defeat each gym.
Path of Legends
This path contains the Five Titan Pokémons. These can also be tackled in any order you see fit. Their levels are not displayed, but they do vary in strength.
We recommend taking them on in this order:
- The Stony Cliff Titan (South Province – Area Three)
- The Open Sky Titan (West Province – Area One)
- The Lurking Steel Titan (East Province – Area Three)
- The Quaking Earth Titan (Asado Desert)
- The False Dragon Titan (Casseroya Lake)
After defeating all the Titan Pokémons, you’ll need to go to the Poco Path Lighthouse for one last battle; this marks the end of Path of Legends.
Starfall Street
The Starfall Street path works the same way as Victory Road. All teams of Squad Leaders have a set level that does not change.
We recommend taking on Team Star in this order:
- Team Star’s Dark Crew (West Province – Area One)
- Team Star’s Fire Crew (East Province – Area One)
- Team Star’s Poison Crew (Tagtree Thicket)
- Team Star’s Fairy Crew (North Province – Area Three)
- Team Star’s Fighting Crew (North Province – Area Two)
As soon as you defeat the last Team Star Crew, you must challenge the Leader at Mesagoza to complete this path.
Area Zero
This area is only unlocked once you complete all three paths. You will receive a phone call from Arven, and he will ask you to meet him at Area Zero.
