Azhdaha is a Weekly Boss in Genshin Impact, an Ancient Earth Dragon and Overlord of the Geovishaps, as told in the Liyue Legends. He was once an ally of the Geo Archon Morax, but conflict with humanity led him to be sealed away in The Chasm. Since then, he has sought to break free and absorb the energy of the world’s ley lines.

Where is Azhdaha Located?

The boss fight domain “Beneath the Dragon-Queller” is located under Nantianmen, Liyue. To Unlock it, you must complete both parts of Zhongli’s story quest, Act I and Act II.

Best Characters for Repeated Runs

A shield character like Zhongli, Diona, or Noelle is essential for this fight. Without a shield, your characters will take significant damage after being hit once. If you don’t have or don’t want to use a shielder, you could always use a healer like Kokomi or Barbara.

Azhdaha will always have two different elements, which change weekly. Ensure your DPS character has a different element than him, as he will have increased resistance to that element. Also, ensure your DPS character is not Geo, as the boss has increased Geo resistance. Here are some parties which could benefit you if you use them:

          Azhdaha Abilities and Attacks

          Phase 1

Azhdaha has a tanky physique with high damage-dealing attacks, which varies according to the phases and elements he infuses during them. The Lord of Vishaps, being a Geo, mainly utilizes the earth itself to enhance his attacks.

Note: Most attack names are unofficial.

          Earthen Skull

Slams his head and releases explosions that go forward in a straight line. This attack deals 33.3% ATK as Geo DMG on impact, and the explosions deal 66.6% as Geo DMG.

                              • When Electro, the tail will periodically zap parts of the arena in a cone AoE. This cone AoE is constantly changing. The Zap deals 100% ATK as Electro DMG. The targetted AoE is indicated with a purple radius on the ground.

                              • When Cryo, the tail will unleash a massive hailstorm around it. Ice chunks will fall on the ground constantly in random areas targeting the player. These chunks deal 33.3% ATK as Cryo DMG on impact. The Cryo effect slows down the speed of the player.

                                How to Beat Azhdaha Easily

You must check the symbols outside the trounce domain of Azhdaha to know the elements he will be infused with; the top sigil shows Phase 2, and the bottom one shows Phase 3. The colors of these symbols are enough to know which element it would be.

Try to attack the boss from the front or back, as it is hard to predict and dodge his attacks from the sides. This is because attacking from the side triggers a sideways Body Slam attack which is impossible to dodge using sprinting I-frames.

                                "Use
                                Use shield against Pyro Attacks

In the second and third phases, it is advised not to use elemental burst animations to dodge attacks, as the effects of the attack will remain even after the Elemental Burst animation is over. You must ensure a shield protects you during these phases. your characters are constantly damaged, even if they are off-field. So a shield is required; with a shield, the characters will not be affected and, in turn, not damaged.

For the Electro Elemental Tree attack, stay near the center of the arena to easily dodge the boss’s attack radius. It is easier to move in the center as the targetted areas are minor. Most of his attacks are slow enough that the player can move away before it hits them. However, for the Cryo Elemental Tree Attack, just dashing away from the area of effect will allow the player to be safe.
