Episode 5 Act 3 in Valorant was mostly about balancing agents with various buffs and nerfs. Update 5.12 introduced changes for almost all agents in the game; Riot has also included a new game mode that will be available by the end of this episode.
Split was only added back a few days ago, but it seems like Riot has a brand new announcement for its players in the form of a new game mode. Swiftplay is currently in beta and is a short game mode that delivers the traditional Valorant experience but at a faster pace. The game mode is available from today till January 10th in beta mode.
In Swiftplay, the first team to reach five rounds wins the match. It will feature two halves, each consisting of four rounds, and weapons and credits carry over from one round to the next. In the first round, the players’ starting money will be only 800; however, in the next round, their starting will increase to 2450, while the third and fourth rounds will set their starting money to 4250.
If a player can win a pistol round in Swiftplay, they get a +600 credit bonus for winning the round. The standard kill bonuses are +200, and Spike Plant bonuses are +300; the mode also features sudden death overtime. The average Swiftplay match will last approximately 15 minutes.
The new Patch 5.12 update also adds the Cryostasis skin bundle. The collection includes skins for Vandal, Bulldog, Operator, Classic, and Melee; each weapon is covered in ice. The skins change throughout the gameplay. While the weapons are completely frozen at the start of the game, the ice breaks away when players use the weapon, which reveals the design underneath. The Cryostasis Skin Pack will hit the store on December 14th.
The Valorant Swiftplay Beta begins today and will end on January 10th, 2022.
