The free-to-play MMO Lost Ark is getting some exciting new updates, as the developers have officially announced a crossover with The Witcher, thrilling fans of both properties.
The information came via the official Lost Ark account on Twitter, which stated that Geralt would be going on an adventure in the MMO, and a release date was slated to be “Early 2023”. That’s the extent of the official crossover details, at least for the worldwide version of the game.
This crossover was announced for the Korean version of the MMO in June. This announcement billed it specifically as an event about the third game in the franchise, while the global announcement uses generic branding relating to the entire franchise. Although the games are pretty famous among English-speaking gamers, the crossovers of the MMO are typically regional, so fans were still determining whether the event would go global. The crossover announcement may not be as exciting as the news about The Witcher 1 Remake, but fans are still happy.
As part of MMO’s fourth-anniversary Korean stream, the developers showed off some images of the crossover, which were quickly shared for a global audience by fans on Reddit. In the three screenshots, we see a lively village overlooked by a mountain carved in the shape of a wolf medallion and a player character interacting with Geralt and Ciri.
Details are still hazy, but CD Projekt Red has stated that it’s working with Smilegate RPG to bring the most authentic Witcher experience to the MMO. Collaboration is expected to be added to Lost Ark this winter. Fans are hoping for a brand new class, and others are expecting skins based on the franchise and possibly a quest to go along with it.
While the global version won’t get the expansion until early 2023, the event is set to make its way to the Korean version by the end of the year. You can expect much more information about what to expect in the International version of the game soon.
