Bandai Namco has just dropped off a new trailer for their upcoming major fighting title, Tekken 8. The last trailer featured the main cast of characters from the game. However, this trailer shifts the focus to specific characters.
The particular trailer released today puts Paul Phoenix, a mainstay in the series, in the spotlight. He has been part of all Tekken games, and this iteration of the game is no exception.
The trailer showcases his moveset, along with his new refreshed look and gives off a hint of what to expect from Paul in Tekken 8. The clips from the trailer confirm that Paul will be sticking to his blazing-hot fighting style accompanied by hard-hitting attacks.
The clips featured one of his fight intros, followed by a demonstration of his iconic moves, with one particular scene featuring his trademark death fist. Paul is also given a wide range of new attacks to keep things interesting. The new moves appear to be frame traps that will aid him in dishing out his heavy-hitting attacks.
If the opponent is unable to read the frame traps, the traps are designed such that they trick the enemy into believing that they have the upper hand; however, the reality is quite the opposite. Therefore, the frame traps will be quite challenging for the contenders of the character.
Aside from Paul, the trailer showcased the new Heat Gauge gameplay mechanic. The Heat Gauge mechanics can be used to activate a Heat Burst, which will put players in a more aggressive state that is totally explosive. This new mechanic adds a new bar below the health gauge that gradually fills up. Once it is full, you can use the Heat Burst for a limited time, adding a new offensive line to an already complex gameplay.
