Nintendo has announced that they’re adding a plethora of content to the Nintendo Switch exclusive, Splatoon 3, starting next month. Players with an active Nintendo Switch Online membership can access the upcoming “Chill Season 2022” content. The new update will add weapons, stages, gear, emotes, and game modes.

SRL meteorologist here to officially welcome you to Chill Season 2022! It starts on Thursday 12/1, and it's jam-packed with new weapons, stages, and events. Check out the linked video for more info…and start warming up your splat trigger now. Brrr! pic.twitter.com/199ELEbpyG

Below is a list of content that will be added in the brand-new update:

  • Big Run – a brand new game mode
  • X Battles – a new game event
  • New and returning weapons
  • Two new stages
  • A whole different cosmetic catalog

The most notable addition in the update is the addition of a brand new game mode called “Big Run.” The new mode will twist the Salmon Run game mode, which focuses on co-op and survival. The first Big Run will take place on the Wahoo World stage later this year. The developers have stated that they’ll share further details about the event and how players can participate in the upcoming weeks.

The next addition is a new game event called X Battles, geared towards elite Splatoon 3 players. X Battles will require players to reach an elite rank in Anarchy Battles and climb to the top of the leaderboards by risking X Power. X Battles will become available starting December 1st. On the same day, we’ll also receive three brand-new weapons, a Roller, Charger, and a Shooter. We’ll also get ten returning weapons available from previous games in the franchise, including some modified sets.

In this update, we’re only getting two additional stages. The first one is Brinewater Springs, a brand new map, while the other stage is Flounder Heights, which was also present in the first game.

Lastly, we’re getting a new catalog for Inklings and Octolings. “Chill Season 2022” will add a brand new collection of gear, custom titles, victory emotes, stickers, and more, which players can use. The update will also add new equipment and items in the shops.

Splatoon 3 Chill Season will launch on December 1st, 2022.
