Sony PlayStation VR2 received quite a lot of hype upon its trailer release 4 months ago, but according to the recent Bloomberg report, the pre-orders couldn’t live up to expectations. With this disappointing result, Sony Interactive Entertainment decided to reduce a significant amount of PS VR2 supply before its initial launch.
Initially, Sony had planned to ship approximately 2 Million Units, according to a report in October 2022, but the recent report by Bloomberg claims that these units are now down to around 1 Million, which are set to release on February 22. This is based on information from people familiar with Sony’s deliberations. Sony is looking to ship 1.5 Million VR2 from April 2023 to March 2024, which can be changed if the demand increases or further decreases.
Despite having many engaging titles like Horizon Call Of The Mountains, Resident Evil 4, Among Us, and many more for PS VR2, it still didn’t gain enough recognition. The reason behind it might be its hefty price of $549.99. Display Supply Chain Consultants Co-founder Yoshio Tamura still has high hopes for VR2 to perform near future, as he said.
