Previously, the game had sold over 3 Million copies within the time frame of just days. The latest milestone now brings the total sales of the series to exceed 135 million units sold worldwide. Given the success of the series, the Resident Evil 4 Remake’s journey is far from over.
The game developers suffering from success said they would keep up the good work to make Resident Evil 4 Remake go even further. To fuel the fire, they said they intend to release an update for the game. The update in question, The Mercenaries update, will go live on April 7th. The official press release by Capcom said:
Capcom will continue to focus on growing sales of the title, including with the release of The Mercenaries free additional downloadable content on April 7.

The update will introduce the Mercenaries mode to the game to pit players against the clock to get as many kills as possible before the timer runs out. To improve your chances in this mode, you must pick special kills, such as headshots and melee kills, to keep the clock from running out. There will also be Time Orbs scattered around the arena that you can collect to keep the clock from running out. The PlayStation Blog goes into the detail of the Mercenaries Update.
