Overwatch 2 has revealed its newest hero, Ramattra, a tireless Omnic fighting for the survival of his people. Ramattra is a unique hero, as plays can combine various deadly playstyles while transitioning between his Omnic and Nemesis forms.
Despite releasing during the same month as Warzone 2, which recently had a new movement glitch, Overwatch 2 has still proven immensely popular. Blizzard continues to support and maintain the game, and now they’re adding a brand-new hero.
According to the lore, Ramattra is the leader of the Null Sector organization and is a Shambli monk. He no longer sees the possibility of peacefully defending the rights of the Omnics and has now taken a more pragmatic point of view.
The gameplay video shows a shield ability similar to Sigma and skills revolving around shapeshifting. Identical to Bastion, Ramattra can temporarily transform to focus on protecting himself or dealing damage to enemies. Overall, he looks like a versatile addition to a tank roster.
As for his gameplay, Ramattra is now confirmed as a shield tank. His primary fire is similar to Sigma’s, as you can fire projectile streams with a left click and create a shield with right-click. However, the shield doesn’t move after being placed. His alternate mode is called Nemesis and lasts around eight seconds. It reduces damage, but only from the front, and reduces movement speed. It can be used when Ramattra is taking heavy damage from Ultimates or low on HP.
Ramattra also has a utility called Vortex of Gluttony that generates a large circle where enemies are pulled to the ground, making it highly effective against any hero that can fly or jump high. Finally, his ultimate is Destruction and it switches Ramattra’s form to Nemesis and deals damage around him for a short while. However, its effect lasts longer if the hero damages enemies.
Ramattra will be added to Overwatch 2 on December 6th, 2022.
