Overwatch 2 Season 4 will be released on April 11th, and it is no secret that the season will include two new support heroes. Blizzard had not revealed any details about these heroes until now. However, on Twitter yesterday, they announced Lifeweaver as the game’s new upcoming support hero, making him the ninth support hero in the game.

Now with the addition of Lifeweaver, the roster of heroes in Overwatch 2 stands at 33, and Blizzard doesn’t appear to be slowing down. They have promised to expand the Overwatch 2 support roster with new heroes. So, we will be seeing new faces joining the ranks of the support hero Kiriko and the tank, Ramattra.

The official Overwatch Twitter account teased Lifeweaver, referring to the floral design of his outfit. The brief tweet only revealed the name and design of the new support hero, with the announcement that Blizzard will drop off more information on April 4th. Lifeweaver is expected to be released with the next battle pass, so he will not be available in competitive mode from the get-go.

The design of Lifewear and his name imply that he will be a ranged healer with a vast array of healing abilities under his belt. He is a herbal pansexual, aka Niran Pruksamanee. Furthermore, the picture shared in the tweet implies that he is of Thai origin. This makes him the first Thai hero to join the roster of Overwatch 2.

The support hero depicts Thai culture from head to toe, and the best part is that the character’s debut also coincides with the Thai New Year. Chonlawat Thammawan, the Lead Character Technical Artist at Blizzard Entertainment, pitched the Thai character to the design team. He said in an interview that Lifeweaver was inspired by a variety of sources, including World of Warcraft’s ever-popular Druid.

Alec Dawson, the lead hero designer, did not give much away when discussing the potential of Lifeweave. However, said that the new support hero would have exceptional control abilities that would open up a number of new strategies for the player. He also said that while Lifeweaver is primarily a healer, he also possesses abilities that can deal significant damage to ward off attackers. That’s all there is to know about Lifeweaver for the time being.
