Season 2 for the MLB The Show 23 rolls out today and brings several new Legends and features for players to explore. Stephen Hass, the Live Content Sr. Project Manager at Sony San Diego Studios, revealed that the new season would have tons of content to enjoy. Read on to learn about everything he revealed.
Kaiju Series
The Kaiju Series is probably the most significant addition to Season 2 for MLB The Show 23. It is inspired by the Kaiju, or Strange Beast, film genre. The Kaiju Series includes some of the most significantly effective MLB Legends and Superstars of all time, that include Monte Irvin, John Franco, and Corey Kluber.
Kaiju Series will begin today with Kaiju: Part 1, followed by Kaiju: Part 2 next Friday, May 19, and eventually Kaiju: Part 3, dropping on May 25. It will include new Moments and Missions featuring exclusive players with names like Billy Williams, Hunter Renfroe, and Brandon Lowe.
A Kaiju-themed Conquest map will also be available to complete for packs, stubs, XP, and other rewards. Furthermore, you’ll be up against the Showdown boss Stephen Strasburg to advance in the Kaiju Other Program. The PlayStation Blog Post further explains the Kaiju Series in detail.
Team Affinity 2 Program
The upcoming season will see the return of the Team Affinity for all 30 MLB Clubs. The Team Affinity 2 Program will have new content on offer, including exclusive Mini Seasons challenges and a new Ranked Program. The Ranked Program will enable players to earn rewards with their friends, ascend leaderboards in co-op mode, and complete new Collections for 99 overall bosses.
Incognito Series
The MLB The Show 23 Season 2 also introduces the new Incognito cards to the mode. The Incognito series will have players with memorable nicknames featured on Incognito cards. The cards will have the nickname prominently displayed in comic-book-style art.
The Incognito Series is exclusively made for keen collectors. It will include legends, be it Jacob deGrom, The Degrominator, or Randy Johnson, aka The Big Unit, among other well-known players.
In addition, the Incognito series adds a new legend to the game. Tim Raines, the Hall of Famer, makes his MLB debut with Season 2 of The Show 23. Hass revealed that Raines is not the only new legend. He said new legends will be revealed during the remainder of the year.
