The video game developer People Can Fly recently announced a partnership with Microsoft. PCF is renowned for operating the leading Unreal Engine studios in Poland, the United Kingdom, and North America. Its Management Board made the announcement, revealing that the agreement was reached on June 13, 2023.
The document revealed that People Can Fly is collaborating with Microsoft to create a new video game under the codename Project Maverick. They announced they had entered a Development and Publishing Agreement with Microsoft as the Publisher. It was further revealed that Project Maverick is a AAA game based on intellectual property rights owned by the Publisher and will be carried out by the Company in work-for-hire mode.
Furthermore, according to the agreement, the Publisher will finance the project as the Company completes the key milestones contracted as part of the production process. The allocated budget for the development of the project is $30-50 million.
The game itself is currently being kept under wraps, and little else is known. However, given the history of People Can Fly, it is expected to be a banger. There is a possibility that the game is Gears of War spinoff, but given that Microsoft owns all IP published by Xbox Game Studios, this could be something entirely new. It’s too early to tell what the project will be, and any meaningful update might be years away.
