Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning has been out for a while now, and after the relaunch, fans were treated to a brand new expansion for the game; although Nintendo Switch players will leave behind a bit, THQ promised they’d be getting the expansion this year. However, that’s no longer the case.
Kingdoms of Amalur is a role-playing game that was released in 2012. It is the only game released by Studio 38, as development was plagued with trouble due to the game’s funding. In 2018, the rights to the series were acquired by THQ Nordic, who recently released an Arena Mode for the game. The company re-released the game Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, a remaster of the original game. After acquiring the rights, THQ announced that it would be getting a third DLC, Fatesworn, that will be released in celebration of the game’s 10th anniversary.
The expansion allows players to travel to new environments full of snowy tundras, deep caves, and new enemies. Players can also visit the mountain village and lakeside town of Crownhold. The DLC allows players to take advantage of the power of chaos with unique new non-combat abilities and weapons and armor classes. The expansion will follow the protagonist’s final battle with Niskaru and his Chaos brothers as the fateful Fatesworn.
The Fatesworn expansion for the game launched around this time on most platforms last year. As for the Nintendo Switch port, THQ Nordic promised to release new content in 2022 for the console. However, there hasn’t been much news in the past few months, and with only a few days left in the year, it’s not surprising that the Fatesworn expansion on the Nintendo Switch has been postponed until 2023.
The news comes from the game’s official Twitter account. Although somewhat disappointing, THQ Nordic said the expansion is almost done for the Nintendo console. While we don’t have any release date, the expansion may release in early 2023.
