Since its release two years ago, THQ Nordic has continued to support Kingdom’s of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, and now, they’ve decided to give fans a brand new game mode. Starting today, players can access the newly introduced Arena game mode if they wish to.

Kingdom of Amalur is a role-playing game released in 2012. It was developed by Big Huge Games and 38 Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It was the only game ever released by 38 Studios, as the development was mired in controversy due to the game’s funding. Therefore, the inability to meet sales goals and debts incurred during the game’s development led to the bankruptcy of 38 studios.

In 2018, the rights to the series were acquired by THQ Nordic, who recently released the gameplay for AEW Fight Forever. The company re-released the game as Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, a remaster of the original game. After acquiring the rights, THQ announced that the game would receive a third DLC called Fatesworn, which would be released around the game’s 10th anniversary.

The game has received a new mode just in time for Christmas: Arena mode. The arena mode pits players against waves of enemies, with successive waves becoming stronger over time. Those who survive and succeed in the arena earn rewards, and round challenges offer even more rewards. The addition of the arena mode gives players a new challenge to take on via a free update.

Players can now sink a few more hours into the game to spend time mastering the mode. Although, they should be prepared to have their skills tested as they’ll fight hordes of enemies in new locations. Successful players are rewarded with various perks and can craft and use powerful spells. In addition, the developer has created three new arena locations, new enemy groups with additional variations, new rewards, and different challenges.
