In a blog post, the developer of IO Interactive announced that Hitman 3 is being rebranded as World of Assassination. The entire trilogy will be put together into one game and will be available to purchase from January this year.
Hitman 1 and 2 will be removed from the stores, and those who already own Hitman 3 will get an upgrade to the new game for free. If you don’t own Hitman 3, World of Assassination will cost around $70. The game will consist of the base game of Hitman 3, the Hitman 1 Game of The Year access pass, and the standard access pass of Hitman 2. There was some confusion among the players about various things, so IO Interactive came up with this genius idea. The main reason for this upgrade was to make it easier to onboard the new players. IO said:
There will be no more confusion over which edition to buy, what content you own, how to redeem Legacy packs or import locations, etc.
There are tons of different DLCs of the three games, which is costly and confusing, so now players won’t have to repurchase the content they already had. Moreover, there is another pack you can buy, which will complete the whole content. It is an additional World of Assassination Deluxe Pack, which will include the remaining DLC, the Hitman 2 Expansion access pass, the Hitman 3 Deluxe Pack, and the Hitman 3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection. As said before, Hitman 1 and 2 will be removed from the storefront, but the players who still own it won’t have to worry about anything as they will still be able to play it.
The developer has also made it clear that they are absolutely certain that these changes will not only just bring new players on board but also will have a hugely positive impact on existing players. The developer also mentioned:
For many players, it will mean free-content to enjoy. For others, it will mean significantly cheaper DLC prices. For new players, who probably aren’t reading this here, they’ll have a much better experience buying Hitman games.
Hitman World of Assassinations will be available to purchase from 26 January 2023.
