Santa Monica Studio isn’t done with its critically acclaimed title, God of War Ragnarok; they’re adding more fuel to the fire with the update 4.0 five months into the release of the original game. The robust update adds new content, bug fixes, and, most importantly, the Game Plus Mode. The update is now available for both PS4 and PS5 users.
When it comes to the meat of the matter, update 4.0 adds new equipment, raises the level cap, and rolls out the Game Plus mode, which allows you to jump right back into the game with your previous save’s arsenal and skills.
The new equipment made available with the update includes five armors that offer unique perks and a personalized experience. The armors include the Spartan Armor, Ares Armor, Zeus Armor, and Black Bear Armor, all of which are exceptional in their own right.
Furthermore, the Spartan Aspis shield with the Hacksilver is also on offer at the Huldra Brothers’ Shop. However, the update doesn’t stop there! It also tweaks the existing 13 armors with exciting colors and themes to give the game a new and fresh look.
Apart from the new equipment, the update also incorporates new Enchantments that players will need to cope with the added difficulty in the GamePlus Mode. The Burdens Enchantment Set is now available, allowing players to equip negative perks for an added challenge. These can be purchased with Gilded Coins and applied to Amulets for various lethal perks.
Finally, there is the Game Plus Mode which adds new challenges and up the ante to make things more challenging for those who have completed the main story in God of War Ragnarok. The Game Plus mode will allow players to relive the Kratos and Atreus story anew with an array of exciting features.
The Game Plus Mode adds various new progression paths, including Additional Stat Gains, Platinum Tier Labors, and Skill Mod Plus, all to balance the game progression. Furthermore, it increases the level caps for enemies and Kratos alike to make the game a touch more challenging.
The NG+ mode also raises the equipment’s maximum level cap, allowing you to upgrade previously maxed-out items to Plus versions. It is worth noting, however, that while you can keep your previous save’s skills, weapons, and equipment, you will not have access to Sonic and Hex Arrows from the get-go.
Similarly, you will have the Draupnir Spear right away, but you won’t be able to use it to unlock any areas until you reach a certain point in the main story. Once you have progressed, you will be able to use it.
