Bethesda has announced that their 2015 RPG, Fallout 4, will get a free current-gen update. The update will include various new features that’ll improve performance; it has been confirmed that it will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2023.
Developed by Bethesda and released in 2015, Fallout 4 is the fourth main entry in the franchise and was released after 2010’s New Vegas. It is probably the most successful game in the franchise, selling 1.2 million copies on launch and 13 million copies overall.
The news was released via a blog post on the official Fallout website, which states that the update will be free and include various performance mode features so users can experience high frame rates, quality features for 4K resolution gameplay, extra Creation Club content, and various bug fixes.
This is not the only performance update for the game, though, as Fallout 4 was enhanced for Xbox One X, which is a last-generation console. The update allowed the game to run at 4K and 30fps, while the Xbox Series X|S can run the game at 60fps via the ‘FPS boost’ setting, which can be enabled. This also drops the resolution down to 1080p. Hopefully, the performance update for the game will allow players to experience it with both a higher resolution and a framerate without compromising on either.
