FromSoftware has a habit of announcing major DLC for its titles one year after their official release. However, the biggest title by From Software, Elden Ring, did not see a DLC announcement at its anniversary on February 25th, creating a rift in the gaming community.
Better late than never! Three days into its first anniversary, Elden Ring got a DLC announcement in the most casual way possible. The developers announced the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion on its official Twitter account.
The developers of the game did not reveal anything else besides a single piece of concept art. A figure in white robes is mounted on Torrent’s back, and a dying Erdtree is silhouetted against a moody sky in the distance. The condition of the Erdtree suggests that the DLC takes place after the main storyline. As for the figure riding the Torrent, it can either be a player Tarnished character or an NPC related to the storyline of the DLC.
However, one important detail is revealed by the game’s official Japanese site. The site confirms that the DLC, Shadows of the Erdtree, will be released across all platforms of the original game, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam. Nonetheless, no information on the DLC’s release date has been revealed.
