Deceit 2, the sequel to the 2017 social horror game, was originally announced by World Makers in October of last year. However, a new trailer for the sequel was released yesterday at the Streamer Awards, revealing the first look at the gameplay.
Deceit 2 will be released later in 2023 on all platforms, including the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game will include new maps, combat abilities, and items, in addition to three new characters. Aside from new content, it will feature next-generation visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5.
The teaser, narrated by the enigmatic Game Master, goes over the fully worked game mechanics, which include the Ritual of Deceit and the Infected Banishing ritual. Moreover, footage of the In-Between realm is also teased while slightly touching the revamped shooting mechanics.
In addition, the player cap has been raised to add to the fun. This time around, it will be set at 9 players in order to accommodate everything the game has to offer. The game will also include the In-Between realm, a supernatural domain where the Infected gain extraordinary powers to devour the Innocent. In the Ritual of Deceit game mode, the Infected can cause Blood Altars to teleport all players to the In-Between.
In order to escape the In-Between, one of the Innocent must sacrifice his life to save the others; however, if you are vigilant enough, you can use your detective skills to prevent such scenarios from occurring.
In addition, once an Infected has been identified, the Innocent can cause harm to that Infected in order to begin a banishing ritual, but this comes with the risk of mistaking an Innocent for the enemy and eventually killing them out of suspicion.
