The CS:GO community has long desired more adaptable options and new content, and Valve has assuredly promised to deliver on that promise with the announcement of Counter-Strike 2, and it appears that they will keep the pace and continue to deliver.
Since the announcement of CS2, data miners have been digging through files to figure out what to expect from the final version of the game. The latest development in that regard is the leak that multiple announcers are coming to CS2.
Aquarius, a reputable full-stack developer, and Counter-Strike enthusiast, has been at the helm of the latest CS2 leaks for quite some time now, and he doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. He recently discovered that there will be multiple announcers to choose from in CS2. He took to Twitter and said:
Seems like in Counter-Strike 2, you will be able to choose between Announcers straight from the Settings.
This feature will allow players to select between two announcers directly from the settings. You’ll be able to choose between a male and female announcer, and you can switch between them whenever you want. This may appear to be a minor detail, but if you’ve ever played Dota 2, you’ll be aware of the dynamics this feature adds to the game.
Aquarius has the viewpoint that the multiple announcer option will pave the way for a new cosmetics type, Announcer Packs, following the footsteps of Dota. He said:
Imagine GabeN or GLaDOS saying: “Bomb has been planted.”
It is currently unknown which announcers will be added to the list, but broadcast members such as Chad SPUNJ Burchill and Alex Machine Richardson may be included alongside Gaben Newell, the president of Valve. In our personal opinion, we’d love to see CS2 bring in a Snoop Dog pack.
It is worth noting, however, that the Multiple Announcer option was nowhere to be seen in the limited test version of CS2. Nonetheless, the feature can be found in the game’s coding, so it’s likely that it’ll be revealed when the full version of the game is released this summer.
